MedVet Cleveland is an absolute disgrace, and its a wonder this place hasnt been shut down. If you care about your pet, avoid this facility like the plague. Our experience with Dr. ***** ***** was beyond unacceptable. She was unprofessional, dismissive, and clearly lacks both compassion and competence. Every other horror story you read about this place? Believe it. I wholeheartedly recommend ************* Northview instead, just 15 minutes away.We arrived at 5 PM, worried that our dog may have a throat obstruction. She gagged a few times, her bark sounded hoarse, but she wasnt coughing or in distress. After a phone intake, we were told to wait in our car because they assumed kennel cough. Despite explaining that she wasnt coughing, they ignored me. A tech glanced at her for less than 30 seconds before deeming her "stable," meaning we had to wait.We waited over FOUR HOURS. Our anxious dog suffered unnecessarily. At 10 PM, we were taken to an isolation room. Dr. ***** entered in full hazmat gear, frightening our dog. Instead of showing empathy, ***** made a rude remark when our dog growled in fear. After we muzzled her, ***** barely examined her no throat check, no gum inspection, nothing. She lazily declared it probably kennel cough. We declined an overpriced x-ray and waited another 45 minutes. When I called the front desk, the receptionist was defensive and hung up on me. After six and a half hours, we left with no answers. The next day, my aunt, an experienced vet, immediately ruled out kennel cough. She suspected a simple throat irritation a basic assessment ***** failed to make. The negligence and arrogance at MedVet ********* are dangerous. For the sake of your pets life, drive to *********************** where youll receive proper care. I will never stop warning others about this disgraceful facility.

Do not take your pet here. My daughter took her cat in for emergency treatment and was there for over 9 hours and never received any meds or anything from this place. They were told the cats vitals were good but thats it. Other people were being turned away if their pet wasnt an emergency but my daughter was never given that option and they never came back out to give her any update on her cat. They kept pushing her time back because other emergencies kept coming in. After 9 hours they finally wanted to charge her over $900 for basically doing nothing but taking the cats vitals. When my daughter asked to speak to a supervisor about it they said she would have to come back the next day because there was no supervisor there. Extremely poor service and rude people. If I could give less than 1 star I would.

Word of advice to anyone considering taking your pet to Medvet in ************** NOT allow discussions regarding test results to occur over a telephone call with the vet. Only discuss findings of test results face-to-face with the vet AND with a hardcopy of the results of actual test in hand. I strongly recommend that you record the conversation too.The vet never disclosed the full results of my pets test and even claimed that a prior test completed at Medvet was inaccurate and no longer showed findings of cancer. I was led to believe it was nothing more than back issues, which resulted in more diagnostic testing being recommended, which I agreed to. It wasnt until I read the results of the test (I requested that Medvet email to me) that I found out there was a new cancer finding noted on the report. It's obvious their sole focus is money - adding on more "secondary" testing that does not coincide with the primary point of interest. This location has several customer complaints regarding the same issue, as well as negative reviews from former employees (Indeed and Glassdoor). Common complaints of unnecessary diagnostic testing, commission-based testing, pets being left in the back for hours upon end, long wait times, inadequate staffing, upper management issues, and excessive turnover rates. This place of business has a habit of providing quick cookie cutter responses to complaints on BBB, Yelp. They will respond asking you to reach out to them to discuss further. My attempts at trying to discuss my concerns prior to this review resulted in no one ever calling me back after several daily attempts! A facade! Then, an employee who you have never had any communication with will eventually respond to your online complaints, while this same individual fabricates and gets the actual conversations mixed up (purposely?) in order to make the business look better. I will be sharing my experience with friends, family, in ******** groups, total strangers.

While out of town our kids took our golden retriever in due to excessive puking. After thousands of dollars of evaluation it was determined she had a blockage. The surgery estimate was $5300! In an effort to save our dog we approved. The surgery was extensive with a long incision. Trying to manage from overseas Medvet took advantage of us. They just kept running up the bill. Then asking for more money. After her stay the total was north of $17K!. The company will never give you a clear picture of your animals situation. They dont give reasonable advice about what you should do. Once you are in they got you! After complaining about the total bill they gave a couple hundred dollar credit. What a joke. Medical services for your pets shouldnt be this expensive. I will not return with any of our pets in the future. Its unfortunate for the people that work there to take the brunt of this greediness.

They don't offer payment plans even when you can cover a majority of the cost up front. They don't care about your animals, they just want your money.

hi my 18 year old daughter took in our cat to medvet to get checked out because we think he had a fight with our other cat. and when she got there they said she might have an infection. then my daughter told her dont rack up a bunch of bills. let me know the estimate before you do the test. well they did blood work which is good his kidneys were good. lets check the cat for parvo. well cats dont get parvo and when i told the nurse that then she looked at me strange and said that it was called something else and said it has the same symptoms as parvo. so i went in there and told her that i want to see my cat so she went brought her out and i held him which didnt seem to be sick at all. he tried to get down off the couch, so i ask her whats wrong with him and she i dont but i know he is really sick and wanted to keep him over night for a thousand dollars. but if we take him home with medicine then it would around 700. very over priced. so after 5 hours he gets discharged and apparently i paid for medication after she said she wont change us. so we left and she calls my daughter and said we left without his medication. well why didnt they bring it in when they discharged him. well i got him home and he is walking around and eating and drinking. they took advantage of my daughter and still changed us almost 600 very unorganized and would never recommend this company to anyone.

This review is for MedVet in ******. A stray cat give birth to four kittens in our garage. Upon realizing the mom was not caring for the kittens (after one died), we brought in the remaining three to feed and care for. During the day, two more passed so we took the last baby to MedVet. It was busy in the waiting room with lots of animals on a Saturday. We did share that it was a stray but we wanted it saved if possible and we planned to keep it for a pet. We shared that it was born 4 days ago, was not being cared for, and all siblings deceased. They took the kitten straight away and said that it is 6-8 hours to speak with a doctor, but sooner if the animal is not stable. My understanding was she was not stable and were even told we'd talk to the doctor soon. After an hour I asked for an update and again I was told that it should not be long. Meanwhile all the patients that were there before us were called back one by one. We got to see the doctor after another two hours. She said the kitten would have a better chance of surviving if we took it home and cared for it rather than if they kept her. I asked if she was on an IV or had eaten. She was not on an IV and the doctor didn't know if they had fed her (they had not). She said an IV was not appropriate for a tiny kitten - not true I later learned. So during the time we were waiting she was getting no care aside from vitals being taken. We took the baby home and she died a few hours later. The next day I went back to get a copy of the records from her visit. It said she was dehydrated. The weight and heart rate were both low for a 4 day old kitten. I am just so angry that no care was or nourishment was being offered - had we known, we would have kept her with us at least to continue offering formula while we waited. There was also zero compassion shown to us or anyone else - just very transactional, even toward a crying woman picking up remains. I realize they were busy but just awful service for $130. RIP Kitty

I brought my dog in to be seen for a variety of alarming symptoms (constipation, butt dragging, hacking, lack of appetite). The vet tech was very kind when my dog was first taken back, but I later discovered this was about the only good thing that happened during the entire visit. I waited 7 HOURS for my dog to be seen by the vet and roughly an hour just for his vitals to be checked. I then witnessed numerous non-critical patients that came in several hours after my dog who were treated within 1-2 hours of entering the building. The administrative staff provided absolutely no useful information on when my dog would actually be seen by the vet. After wasting almost an entire workday sitting in a waiting room with a TV that looped the same 20 minute segment about the PGA John Deere Classic interviews (not even the actual golfing), at 7pm my dog was finally seen by the vet. They failed to do a rectal exam on a dog that has truly never had a problem at the vet, came back with him and gave me a list of non-specific treatment options that had nothing to do with his symptoms. From then on it was basically a "let's see how much we can squeeze him" approach to the discussion. The vet spoke in confusing medical lingo, in which she seemed to be more focused on lecturing me using whatever big words and concepts she learned during Veterinary school than having a concise and measured conversation about next steps for treating my dog. At one point, I asked how much an anti-nausea shot would cost, which the vet responded with "um $5 dollars-- wait, I'm sorry $25, after the fees and everything." Are you kidding me? $20 extra to stick a needle into a dog for 7 seconds? This place is predatory. I constantly had to ask how much certain treatments would cost, and several times they suggested doing x-rays and other kinds of exams that would run the visit into the thousands of dollars without giving me any indication as to why those would be necessary. This place should be investigated.

I had a reptile who was sick and came here. The vet wouldn’t even come in and talk to me in person. They told me it would only cost $190. I ended up leaving with a bill of over 300. This is the third pet I have had come here that did not end up alive. They give you a plan saying they’ll do all these tests, but they never actually do anything. This place is a scam. Do not go here.

Looking at the reviews below there is a common theme. Get your pet in the building then start testing and procedures until the owner reaches a limit. My wife described the process from the get go as a used car sales approach to veterinary care. We have a ridgeback. Chronic cough and was being evaluated by a different vet for cushings. Developed severe shortness of breath and took to Med Vet Carmel. CXR showed pneumothorax. Air removed and our dog improved. Vets appropriately recommended a CT Chest and surgery. CT chest was consistent with metastatic cancer. Taken to surgery to biopsy and repair air leak. Post-op had a chest tube placed. Entire care to this point excellent. Then comes the excess testing. Biopsy takes days to come back So dog has to stay as lung still leaking. Chest tube in is working but they need a different chest tube to send home. Someone wants to know what the source of the incurable cancer is so a CT of the abdomen and pelvis ordered. When you have a CT chest with pulmonary nodules and on biopsy they appear to be cancer, pray tell why do we need a ct scan of the abdomen and pelvis to find out exactly where the primary is. Meanwhile, dog is away from family, surrounded by strangers and dying. I am a seasoned physician who cares for cancer patients with tubes all the time. Per Medvet, they need to take him back to surgery with the affiliated pain and suffering to put in a different type of tube so he die at home surrounded by loved ones in a few days instead of a few hours. Long and short on the Carmel MedVet. Great pet interacting staff. Money hungry administrators. More to follow as we see if they will release atticus with the tube or whether they send him home to spend hours instead of days with the family before he has to be made comfortable and we get the final bill for this nightmare.
