Was offered to do sleep study using night owl device at home. Its a tiny strip that goes on your finger. I decided to not do it and opted out. Nobody said i need to return this tiny device nor anything. Now i get a bill for 500 dollars for device handling fee and unreturned device. This device does not cost 500 dollars and they have no right to charge me for something that i did not use or do.Business Response

My wife visited their ****** office at ***************************************************** on 9/20/24. She was seen for a quick consultation, and were told this was in network with our insurance. During the brief consultation, the doctor asked my wife to look into her nose with a scope for maybe a minute. We were then charged $312.90 extra (on top of co-pay for visit) for surgery, which isnt covered by our insurance. We were given no good faith estimate. We were given no warning that looking in her nose is not covered. We have reached out multiple times to the business to dispute the bill, and ask questions but they never answer. Overall the bill was over $1,000 for a couple questions and a look up the nose which is ridiculous. They also dont let you bring in outside imaging, which is unheard of. Would not recommend this business. I wish I wouldve read the reviews before we went in, total scam.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
They stated that they left a voicemail with instructions to resolve the issue, but I have not received this. I did get a call from an unknown number, but they left a silent voicemail, so Im unsure of the callers identity. I would like for them to call me again and leave instructions for pursuing a resolution.

I signed an estimate and paid $1425. That contract was for all work to be done in procedure and 10 day, 3 week, 6 week visits. I have subsequently been billed another $654.The No Surprises act and Good faith ******** passed by the federal government in 2022 says they can't charge me more than $400 for the estimate sign in our contract. They are breaking the law.Initial Complaint

Paid a down payment. Decided against surgery and called 4 hours later to cancel it due to financial issues. Was told it would be no problem and I would receive a refund. Next day, the office called be and said they were keeping my down payment to cover any costs not paid by ********. How can ADVENT NOSE keep my ***** without ever billing me whatsoever! Is this even legal? I want my money back. They are con artists!Initial Complaint

The looked in my nose and said the left side was blocked. I had told them I had been previously diagnosed with chronic hardening of the sinus's in the 1990s and had surgery on the right side of my nose. I was willing to provide all medical records. ********************** told me that I would still need to do the sleep study and take antibiotics for 3 weeks before they could do anything else. I told them I do not take antibiotics unless it is immediately necessary. I asked if was immediately necessary and they said not it was not. The required me to take medicine that I did not need just in case. I appealed my bill to them twice and they rejected it. This one appoointment cost me over $400.00 I left in tears because they could not help me.Initial Complaint

Worked with this company to get a nasal turbinate reduction surgery. They charged me an upfront fee for all of my appointments and surgery related to this turbinate reduction. However, I received an additional bill from this company after my surgery was complete and all of my subsequent appointments were also completed. Per the original agreement, all of my bills were to be covered by that original payment. Concerned that this company will continue to send me bills long after I'm supposed to be paid in full.Initial Complaint

On 01/09/2024 I agreed to take a Sleep Study with Advent. Before I agreed, I asked if my insurance would cover it and they said that my insurance would cover the study.I recently received a bill for $471.45 for the sleep study. They did not tell me that I would be responsible for that amount when I asked.I called them and that said there is nothing that they can do about it and that I need to pay that amount.Business Response

ADVENT appreciates the feedback. We understand insurance is complex. Although an insurance carrier may cover home sleep study testing, the covered amount is applied to the patient's annual deductible. Our Revenue Cycle Management Team reviewed this complaint along with the applicable medical record documentation and billing records. No issues or errors were identified, and all billing and reimbursement appear accurate. We encourage you to call us directly at ************ to discuss any further questions and possible payment options.Customer Answer

I specifically asked what the cost of the sleep study would be and the receptionist said that with my insurance, one sleep study would be covered per year.Since I have never had a sleep study before, I decided based on that information to get the study.
She never mentioned that a deductible may need to be met or what the cost of the sleep study could be.
This is a very deceptive way of doing business.

Initial visit/assessment was $1,095.57.My copay helped but the surprise, additional $700 surgical procedure was not covered. Read other 1 star reviews and youll see the same charges and billing practices!I was excited to finally get some answers and improve my breathing. They were in-network and their providers were actually recommended when searching through my health network website. The office was clean, front desk personal were nice. I was required to pay an upfront copay, this matched what I was expecting based on my insurance plan, so no surprise or issues there.I thought the PA I worked with was very knowledgeable and thorough, or so I thought. As part of the initial exam I was told they needed to do a nasal endoscopy. Next, I was told a CT was wanted but that insurance wont cover it until at least two rounds of antibiotics were tried. So antibiotics and nasal sprays were ordered, a CT scan was scheduled for a few months later and I was on my way.About a month later I received a large bill for a surgical procedure. The nasal endoscopy was billed as a separate, surgical procedure and not covered by my insurance. I had no idea this was not part of the initial visit and was being charged separately, let alone as a surgery to my insurance.Initial visit billed at just under $398.18, thankfully only $30 copay Separate surprise surgery billed at $700.39, cost reduced for in-network with BCBS but $382 billed out of pocket There was no discussion that the nasal endoscopy would be an extra charge and was led to believe it was included as part of the initial assessment, not an additional procedure and bill.Business Response

October 10 2022 Advent Knows diagnosed me with a sinus infection and said they couldn't help me until this was taken care of. They billed me nearly $900 for this assessment! Then they said I must do a sleep study and assigned this to me. I did NOT do the sleep study. Though I contested paying the $900 for a sinus infection diagnosis, my insurance company said I had to pay it, so I did. Now January **** I recieved a bill from Advent Knows for an unattended sleep study for $606.06 - of which the insurance company required them to adjust ******* and I am responsible for $258.16. Are they crazy? This was in 2022 and it is now ****. And I didn't want and didn't do the sleep study. AND they charged me exhorbantly for a sinus infection. I feel they are fraudulent in all of their billing claims and have already taken more than they should for diagnosing a sinus infection. I want the $268.16 bill reversed and for them to leave me alone.Initial Complaint

I saw them in February 2022 for which I didn't receive an invoice until the beginning of this year which eventually went to collections in June of 2023. I made four payments to ************************ lnc. for July, August, September and October 2023 which totaled 1O3.56, leaving a balance of $129.44. I then received an invoice from Advent dated October 28, 2023 showing that my insurance had covered most of the invoice and I had a balance remaining of $19.68. I then sent a copy of that invoice to State Collection and asked them to stop the collection payment plan which they did on November7, 2023. I then contacted Advent and requested a refund of the monies collected from State Collection minus the $19.68 balance which would be $83.88. I received a response from Advent stating that the October 28,2023 invoice was an error and I should ignore it. I asked for proof that my insurance DIDN'T payment them which I never received and that was the end of my contact with Advent. I have backup documentation. I am attaching copies of emails with Advent (both screenshots and a Word document to better view the emails), the Advent October 28, 2023 statement, a list of the payments made to State Collection as well as State Collection's email confirming they cancelled the payment plan and a screenshot printed today of Advent's list of billing statements.
