We hired Todd E**** 4/23/21 to do a room addition to our home for $70,000. He told us he was licensed, bonded and insured, but never produced the documentation. As it turned out, he was not licensed, bonded or insured. We paid him additional $6000 in good faith as he stated he wasn't making any money. He estimated that our project would be completed in June 2021. As of December 2021, the work was nowhere near completed. We terminated him at that time. We hired another contractor who had to re-do much of Todd's work and then complete the addition. It cost us another $56,000 . It was August 2022 before we could move in to our addition. Poor work quality issues are numerous and include: foundation that is not square, sloping decks, no insulation in crawl space, no vents in crawl space, siding kinking/not level, drywall installed over electric plugs, window installed upside down, shower stall installed backwards, ceiling tiles stapled over drywall , external doors poorly installed, wall insulation was improper, drywall and ceiling had to be redone. He damaged our siding, our lawn, did not haul away trash, broke our water pipe, hit cable lines twice. He partially paid plumbing subcontractor and did not pay electrical subcontractor at all. His foundation work failed city inspection and he did not tell us. He did not get other inspections done and this caused a great deal of difficulty for us to get final approvals and occupancy permit from the city. We had to pay the architect for additional documentation to convince the city to approve our addition. His work ethic was largely absent. He worked at most 4 hrs/day and many days just didn't show up at all, without any explanation.

The drawers fell completely off with cupboard when I pulled them out to put something away in the drawer. I explain to him exactly what I wanted & he said he could do the job. When he finished I told him that really wasn't the way I explained it to him. He said that's the best he could do, because he couldn't find the sliders he needed to do the job. He should have told me about the sliders before he stated the fee.

Homeowners signed contract with Todd E**** on March 24, 2022, with an original project start date of April 12, 2022. We contracted Todd to re-build our old deck (new deck boards & railing, add a shingled roof, and complete a paver patio). On March 24, 2022 we wrote Todd a check for $8,000 as a deposit of 50% of total project cost. After homeowners completed demo, Todd stated we needed additional support joists. On April 19, 2022 we wrote Todd a check for another $1,000 for half of the materials and labor cost of the additional joists. We had multiple concerns related to the quality of work, project timeline, communication, and other issues. Specifically, Todd laid 1x6x12 boards for deck floor. Actual thickness of these boards is 0.75 inch. Boards bend when walked on, they are not standard use for decking per Ohio Residential Building code. Boards were not laid square and spacing in between boards is inconsistent. New support joists added prior to laying the new decking are not square with original supports, are not secured to deck frame by joist hangers, and many are crooked under the new deck flooring. The center border board is not straight and is being supported by used/discarded wood from the demo of the original deck posts. Decking running perpendicular to the center boarder board is not cut straight and looks sloppy. Contractor used old 4x4 posts from the demo of the old deck to support the boards placed as deck stairs instead of adding additional stair stringers. This solution is not safe, sturdy, or durable. Todd moved his start date multiple times and had multiple no call/no shows during this process. After receiving termination letter, Todd came to our home, uninvited, at 7:20am on 5/23/2022 to go over the termination letter/photos. There was no resolution, Todd blamed the deck boards on Lowes loading the wrong ones. We requested a refund of $9,000 less materials/labor. Todd has never provided a refund.
