I hired Sheppard law to file a chapter 7 bankruptcy for me. They needed a total of 1600 to start. I gave them 600 and I couldn't come up with the rest. They closed my account with no notification and kept my money.

      ******,

Good afternoon. I received your inquiry yesterday morning to request a refund and I asked ***** in my office to retrieve your case file. She brought me your case file yesterday, and I emailed you back yesterday letting you know that I would review the matter, and I would respond to you. In the meantime, you proceeded to file a Complaint with the BBB yesterday. I wish you would have given me the time to properly address the matter. I will still review your case and account and handle the refund process in the correct business fashion.

Once I receive my refund then I will close my case.

[If you do not say why you are rejecting the company's response, BBB must close your complaint.]

      Complaint: 22290509

I am rejecting this response because: Once I receive my refund then I will close my case.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/02/2022

I reviewed the case file today and issued a refund check in the amount of $3,007.00 to Mr. *****.  The first I heard about this matter was yesterday on 11-1-22 at 12:46pm when I received a forwarded email from Mr. ***** (that he wrote at 12:36pm on 11-1-22)  that he had sent to the case attorney, *** *******.  As I reviewed this matter, today I see that Attorney ******* did not follow our office procedures to close the case file and issue a refund. I see where that this closure and refund process should have started on or about September 30, 2022. My normal refund policy is 30 days from when a case is closed; therefore, Mr. ***** would have received his refund within the same time frame as he is receiving it now.  I contacted Mr. ***** to explain this to him.
