On March 8, 2024, I hired Mr. **** (representing himself as co-owner of Mick's Property Development LLC) to do landscape work on my short-term rental property. Mr. **** required a 50% deposit up front totaling $1,125 which was paid to him via Apple Cash. The deposit was allegedly to purchase necessary materials (rocks, mulch, etc.). The work was to be completed over four (4) days starting on Monday, March 11. As a result, we blocked rental availability for four (4) nights (est. at $599/night in rental fees) so work could be completed. Unfortunately for us, Mr. **** never began any of the agreed to work. On Friday, March 29 I phoned Mr. **** after he messaged me saying he was going to begin work that day. Video cameras at the property show he dropped off a wheelbarrow and left without working. He has since continued to blame poor weather, holidays, illness as reasons he couldn't do the work. He subsequently committed to a refund of the deposit but several deadlines have passed, and he has only refunded $50 to date. Mr. **** is a con artist, as evidenced by other, similar complaints on BBB that I wasn't aware of prior to hiring him. I have 40+ text messages from him where his temperament ranges from apologetic, dismissive of any fault (claims that the weather was too bad to do any work), angry and hostile when I ask for work updates or my money back, shocked and indignant over my suggestion that he could possibly be available for work on Easter Sunday, to finally...silence when I insist the time has come for us to stop kidding ourselves and proceed with a refund. In the meantime, we found another local firm to handle the landscaping. They came out same day and completed all necessary work within two days. They even worked one day during a light rain without melting. We are now exploring legal options to attempt to recoup our money and make it known that Mr. **** is a fraud and a thief.

date of transaction 8/30/2023 - $400 and 9/3/2023 - $200 - **** Mick/Mick's Property Development was hired to do a landscaping/drainage job which was supposed to be done on 9/9. He required a deposit upfront which is the payments that were sent. on 8/30 & 9/3. He did not show up more than once, and then stopped responding. I contacted him from another phone number and he responded right away because he thought it was a new customer. I then told him it was me and he acknowledged that he owed me $600 (several text message strings) He said he would return money a few days later and did not send, he kept pushing the date to return money. I have text messages showing I was trying to be very understanding and give him a chance. After several times of putting it off, he has since then stopped responding a no money has been received.
