Based on a scam, on November 21, 2023, I signed a limited POA designating Financial Services Group, LLC (hereafter FSG) as my agent for certain so-called debt consolidations efforts. I revoked the Power of Attorney as soon as I realized that FSG was scamming me. In November 2023, FSG charged $9400 to my ************** credit card. I disputed the charge and have spent many months trying to get it removed from my account. I wrote FSG demanding that FSG refund the fee that I paid in the amount of $9400 but received no response.Sequence of events:The third week of November 2023, I was contacted by phone by someone who claimed to represent Bank of America (BOA). I later learned that the call was not, in fact, from BOA, but was rather a scam to scare me and direct my call to FSG. The caller informed me that my BOA card had been used in ************. Allegedly there were two charges, neither of which I recognized. The caller asked if I had provided my credit card information to anyone else which I had not.The caller then said that she was going to forward my call to an organization that would help me with the debt. I spoke with two women who claimed they could solve the problem. They state that I had been overcharged for years in interest rates and that there was a federal law stating that elderly people could not be charged more than 4%. My call was forwarded to FSG. This caller promised to protect me by writing letters to companies such as ****, ************ and Bank of America. The initial call I received was not from BOA and was a scam designed to put me in touch with FSG. I received no legitimate services from FSG. They sent letters to Synchrony, ************ and BOA that were unnecessary and resulted in my accounts being closed. I had no need for debt consolidation nor protection. FSG gave me false information about the federal law and steps that could be taken to protect me. And FSG charged $9400 in so-called fees to my credit card without my consent.Business Response

Financial Solutions has said that they will reimburse me for the fee I paid of $9400. They sent me a release which I have signed, notarized, and returned to them. I am now awaiting payment of the $9400 and would like to keep my case open until I receive that. Thank you.

October25,2023. We were scammed out of a large sum of money and a lot of it was put on our credit cards which were already high. A bank that we were dealing with connected us to this company to help with the credit card debt. They charged their fees up front to 2 of my cards then said they would close them. I have since found out that it was illegal to do that. When I call their phone number I get Accelerated Debt Solutions. I am not going to deal with another company that I think is a scam too. I have not been able to get ahold of the agent. I would like a refund .I will probably consulting with my lawyer & possibly law enforcement.Business Response

As we informed you in our first response to the BBB, we sent **************** a release form, which he signed. Upon receipt of that form, we issued him a complete and total refund on June 5, 2024. I am attaching the receipts as proof of this. To call the matter unsolved is baseless and we seek to have this decision reversed. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.Customer Answer

Initially I want you to understand that during this timeframe, Id been through a surgery that was botched and I almost died and was recovering; a tornado hit my home in Jan. 2021 and had to be repaired; I ended a 7yr relationship with my fiance and I sold my home and moved to the ********** where I grew up. Needless to say, I was in a fragile state. I had also been through the process of applying for disability which now my limited income. I was called one day and told that someone was attempting to charge $5,000 on my WF **** Credit Card, I was told that Financial Solutions Group could help me with my credit card debt. I was transferred to someone at least 3 times and this was happening rapidly. At this time, I was not late on my cards, they wanted to charge $2,800 for their attorney fee to my card and I would need to let WF know to accept the charge. So I did and they were supposed to eliminate $5,966 in debt. I never received any correspondence from FSG. I would text someone named ****** and tell her that I was getting harassing calls, accounts were being turned over to collection, and she told me it was better to be behind and collections was even better!!! Last week I received papers where I am being sued by *************** I have searched the internet and found out that this is a scam and the name has been changed & I called a number I had for their attorney and was told i had the wrong number and to please disconnect and call the correct number. I have to file for Ch. 13 Bankruptcy so I wont lose my home to these people and have a monthly payment of $175 to pay all this credit card debt back. This is so wrong to do to someone and I dont want anyone else to fall victim to this scam.Initial Complaint

On 4/2/23 I , (now 77 yrs, of age) entered into a contract with Financial Solution Group located in *********** for the purpose of assisting me in clearing up outstanding debts with credit cards. I was initially, contacted by a representative (*******************) who stated that they are connected with the credit bureau and had federal approval to assist individuals with the reduction of debts. He referenced a federal program which allowed citizens like me, to seek assistance help. He had information already about my debts and even my social security number. He gave me the spill and indicated that someone from his agency would do the completion of the paperwork. I later spoke with a (*******************) who further assisted me in signing up for the program. **** continued to explain further the program. **** was the only individual who provided me with his direct contact number. He was able to help me reach assigned reps from the company who would fail to make contact with me when the process was moving slowly or not at all. I was unaware however that the company would attach their fees to my already debt. They attached a total of ***** and ***** as initial payment to 2 of my cards. I was told by **** that the debt should be settled within 6-9 month. As of today, they have assisted me with a debt reduction of one of my cards. There remain 4 cards which they have no information to offer me regarding there contact with the card reps. I have been assigned a total of 5 different reps. with no one assisting toward resolution of my debts except 1. I have spoken with the manager (***************************) for the reps. she has not been efficient nor able to help resolve my situation. I want to have my monies returned in full. Any assistance in this situation will be greatly appreciated. A response from you as quickly as possible is also appreciated. One of the card companies already filed a lawsuit with the local court. In March of last year I signed up to participate in the debt validation program. Here we are almost 1 year later and I am now being sued by one of my credit card companies for no payment. None of my credit cards have been relieved and this company charged a total of 12k to 2 different credit cards. Nothing about working with this company has been easy and has caused emotional stress as well as a financial burden on 2 retired persons. There has been little to no communication with this company and when i call to speak to someone in the office, that person no longer works there. My son called last night and also emailed this company with no resolution. I will be forced to consult an attorney and will be seeking to get everything back and take it further for the emotional and financial stress this company has causes.Business Response

We were contacted by phone that someone was trying to open a credit card under my name in ****** **. I was then transferred to multiple extensions each one stating my identity was compromised. I was told that it is illegal to charge senior citizens more than 6% interest on credit cards and they could help me. They knew every thing about my credit cards, 5 of them. The numbers, my birthdate, the expiration dates even the security codes on the back of my cards. I was put in contact with Financial Debt Solutions also called themselves Accelerated ******************** A man calling himself ******************* said he could help me. His contact # is ************** ************* # ************ which happens to be the same # for Accelerated ******************** They are the same company. I tried contacting the layer on the bottom of the contract and that lawyers number is not operational. In addition the address stated for the lawyer was ******* not what appears on my contract which is ***************** Suite 310 A444. So this all seems very dishonest.Initial Complaint

2 days ago I got a phone call from a person named ********************* who said she was calling from experian and that experian has been monitoring my credit for the last 6 months. She said that several of my credit card companies are in violation of the fair credit reporting act by charging me more than the allowable interest rate. She said it was under FCRA section 609. She said I qualify for debt relief. She said her return phone number was ************ and my caller Id showed she was calling from ************ - experian consumer. She then sent me to another person - ********************* - who explained the debit relief program - she said debt would be reduced by 65-70% and remaining payment would have zero % interest. As Im thinking about this now she really did skip over the fact that Id have to pay $16,300 for the service. She then sent me to a senior financial advisor - ********************************* ( call back number ************ - from financial solutions group for the ******************** program. They then charged the $16,300 to my credit cards right away. They told me not to pay anything on my credit cards until they finish negotiating with the companies ******************** financial and Achieve). Is this all legit? Im beginning to wonder if Ive been scammed - they knew all my info - address, credit report, ssn, etc. Was this really experian that initiated the call and why would experian transfer me to a specific organization and not give me a choice of an organization if I was interested in debt relief. ***************** only went over his highlights of the contract and did not give me sufficient time to read the contract in its entirety. I am a senior citizen and a dependent of a veteran who was in the PA national guard for 26 years. Being a senior citizen I would have thought everyone I spoke with would have given me time to think about the program and even advise I speak with my children about it - but they did not. I feel all of these individuals misrepresented the program.Business Response

Please be advised that I have received the Consumer Complaint that was filed in your office by ***********************. Some of what she states is true in that we do assist our clients with their debt by working with the creditors to lower the amount owed. We are able to save our Clients a significant amount off of the original balance. There are also many things that she states that are not true. Most significantly she says we are a scam. My Team consists of myself, nine legal assistants and fourteen ****************. We are able to,on average, consistently save our Clients 50% or more off of the original balance they start with and a good number we are able to save 100% with a hardship forgiveness. She also states that we did not give her time to think about our program. On page 5 of the Agreement that she attached to this Complaint she initialed that she did not have a POA over her and that she did not need to speak with a family member or friend before proceeding. Be that as it may, we have made a full refund of the amount paid to us in the amount of $16,300.00. This refund was made on July 10, 2023.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this response/resolution is satisfactory to me. In that they have refunded ** money. I do not agree with the rest of their statement - i was contacted by an individual who said she was from Experian and that the credit companies were in violation of the law regarding their interest rates. I contacted Experian and they had no such employees in their company. I looked up the gentlemans name and it appears that he had a criminal history (if it is the same individual who came up on the internet). You may close the case since my money was refunded but I still believe this was a fraud scheme since it is against the law for them to bill for payment before reducing your debt - and they did take my money before doing any action. Plus the attorney never sent me any copies of the paperwork he supposedly sent to the credit card companies. I truly hope another elderly individual goes not get scammed by this company. Thank you.

3/1/2022 Financial Solutions Group approached me by phone and stated they would help with my debt with ********* and BOA. I should add money to my balance in order to obtain a higher balance . At the time I didn't realize that the $ I paid them was not included in the debt reduction. I paid ***** and my debt was reduced to *****. For ***** I received a reduction of $6670. That was a fradulent outcome,Business Response
Date: 03/01/2024
****************** is partially correct. I will do the math so that it is understandable, hopefully .
Starting balances:
Citi $17,804.00 +
BOA $13,988.00 =
Total $31,792.00 This is without our fees included.
Settled Amounts:
Citi $16,498.15
BOA $10,745.00
Total Settlements $27,243.15 This is including our fees
Starting Balance $31,792.00 -
Settled Balance $27,243.15 =
Total Saved $4,548.85 Including our fees
Had ****************** not been in our program he would have also been charged six months of interest on both accounts. While I can not give an exact amount, six months of interest on Citi would have been approximately $1,335.30 and on BOA would have been approximately $$1,049.10. He did not pay this interest so an additional savings of $2,384.40 of interest savings. This added amount $2,384.40 + $4,548.85 of settled savings brings a total amount saved to $6,932.25. We charged our fee to these cards, but it is not mentioned anywhere. No matter what our fee was, he saved almost $7,000.00 by being in our program between the settled savings and interest savings.
