I went online to ******************************* - directed there from website Nerd Wallet - to apply for a high yield savings account. Completed the online application - on what looked like a secure page - and then received a message to contact the bank to complete. I contacted the bank and told my application went into an error but they could clear it and I could try again. I did and when I submitted my application - which included sensitive information like SSN - I was taken to the website homepage without any other action. Now the bank has my information but I do not have an account nor do I know what they are doing with my information. This feels like a scam. Or at the very least misrepresentation in marketing.Business Response

Due to an extreme reduction in work hours related to my ongoing cancer treatment and management of side effects, I check my bank balances routinely. On 2/15/25 I noticed a pending transaction from ****** for $158.99. I instantly attempted to dispute it however the system wouldnt allow me dispute a pending charge and I had to wait until it posted to dispute. McAfee had outdated debit card information, which I believed would have prevented the charge from moving past the pending state. While the charge was in a pending status I was able to eventually cancel the subscription for $158.99. As soon as the charge posted I disputed it. I received a resolution from advising they wouldnt resolve in my favor due to the charge being authorized, no fraud, and transaction going toward a service that benefits the account holder. I DONT USE THIS SERVICE TO BENEFIT FROM IT! I called the dispute department as soon as I received the resolution and was advised that due Section E or whatever the reference was, charges for subscriptions will go through even if merchants have outdated banking information. I disagree with the charge and I disagree with the resolution. Had I not been dealing with cancer, which I continue to battle, and I not believed that old bank information would not allow the charge, I would have tried to stop the charge one day before I did. Discover Bank shouldnt have allowed the charge to go through. Once they were aware I disputed the charge, they should have considered the business used old bank info and I, THE DISCOVER CUSTOMER, said I didnt want/wasnt using/wasnt benefiting, instead of siding with the merchant. I want Discover to reverse/not honor the charge based on the consumer saying they didnt want and the merchant using outdated card information.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: This doesn't waive my rights to privacy. Furthermore I do not recall signing any of those documents at any time nor do I see signatures making this a binding legitimate contract. The law 15 U.S. Code 1681a (2)(b) is not a suggestion, it is policy. The information Discover Bank reported
to equifax is not allowed. I demand that information deleted at once.
Sincerely,

I have been in forbearance with Discover student loans since November 2023, because I was struggling to find a job post-graduation. I was enrolled in their Forbearance Extension Program, and ended enrollment in May 2024. I was then put on a month-to-month forbearance program, where I would have to call each month to get an extension, which I did. In the beginning of October 2024 I received notice from my credit company that there were default of payment's sent to the credit bureau. I have been in forbearance the entire time and was not required to be making payments, per the rules of Discover's forbearance program. When I reached out to Discover to understand why they reported to the bureau, they stated they "have no idea and it is not our problem to fix." Discover has been extremely aggressive and threatful to me during this entire process, and at times have even yelled at me that they will "take everything I own or my co-signer owns." I have been terrified of Discover and it caused me to experience major anxiety and panic during every phone call I had with ******* loan was sold to FirstMark services in November 2024. In speaking with them, they are continuing the forbearance period for my loans. They also stated that the treatment I got from Discover is unprofessional and unfair, and to reach back out to Discover. They still refused to resolve the issue. The complaint is continued in the attached documentation, as I have had continuous contact with Discover since December 5, 2024.Business Response

BBB took a complaint over the phone. Below is the voice to text voicemail description
*********** *****, ************, and the number is ********. Yeah, I was having a problem with my Discover card. I sent out a money order payment in February, and then when I received my statement in March, it said they'd never received that payment, So I went to the post office and bought another money order to cover the month before's payment and the current month's payment, which was a double payment. And I sent that to him. And I had the post office run a trace on the money order that Discover never had received. A few weeks later, I received a check from the post office as a refund for the check that Discover never received. And about two weeks ago, I sent them a check, a very large check, to pay off the card. And now, I am finding out, they are saying that I owe them $180-some from where I had that money order cancelled through the post office, which they obviously never received it in the first place, if they would have signed it, cashed it, that wouldn't have been possible. So now they are saying that I owe them for that and a $30 check cancellation fee, even though I sent them a check for the full amount that I owed. And now they are saying that I owe them for the check that I had canceled, even though the double payment that I had sent in the 1st of March, maybe late February, covered that. So now they're trying to charge me for the cancelled check that I already covered, if that makes any sense. So, alrighty, I thank you very much.Business Response

In April 2024, my Discover credit card account was closed. I made all payments on time while the account was active. However, in early 2025, Discover began reporting late payments (3059 days past due) even though the account was already closed. To justify these entries, Discover has manipulated the closure date three separate times: first reporting it as April 2024, then changing it to February 2025, and now reflecting it as closed in April 2025.I never received post-closure billing statements, notifications of minimum payments due, or any repayment agreement confirming I owed new minimums after the account closed. This reporting is not only false and damaging to my credit, but it violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).Discover has failed to verify the accuracy of the information when I requested evidence and continues to report unverifiable and misleading data to all three major credit bureaus. I have filed formal disputes with Experian, Equifax, **********, and the ***** and I am requesting Discover remove or correct this account entirely.I have a complete legal file prepared with supporting evidence, contract references, and visual proof, and I am prepared to escalate further if this is not resolved quickly.Business Response
