Purchased a vehicle from a private seller, the title is incorrect. After contacting the title owner on record, the gave me the contact information for Manhiem *********. Apparently they act as an intermediate between dealers but would not provide correct contact information for the dealer that last held the vehicle. The vehicle is part of a theft as the title is incorrect and I am working to get this matter resolved. Not only were the people not helpful, they were rude(******). After claiming she could not give out information, she gave me numbers to dealers that had no affiliation to this car.Business Response

I bought a car at Manheim ********* that was true mileage unknown but it wasnt announced. I arbitrate the car one hour after purchase and then they (it gets escalated to their assistant manager) tell me youre stuck with the car because its older than 10 years old and that make it mileage exempt. Seems like they were trying to protect this buyer. Mileage exempt and true miles unknown (tmu) are not the same thing.I argue the case but eventually tuck my tail, keep the car, and resell it at the same auction for a loss (with the same tmu announcement missing)Fast forward 12 months and now Im selling more and more cars at the auction. I sell another car at the same Manheim ********* auction that is also tmu (we made the car tmu when repairing the instrument cluster/odometer) I dont announce it because of its age and the previous incident where the precedent was set by this assistant manager. The buyer of the car we sell complains about the mileage 30 days after their purchase (this is outside of typical arbitration guidelines) and I am forced to buy back the car. Not only that, after I buy the car back, I am banned from buying or selling cars from Manheim nationwide!! I try to talk to this assistant manager and he doesnt allow me the time of day. Its my opinion that he is simply trying to hide his hypocrisy. He even intercepts me from speaking to his General manager. All efforts that I have had all get shot down whenever this assistant manager gets wind off my ongoing complaint. The ** also is non responsive. The manheim customer support phone number escalated this situation for me on numerous occasions, if I were to guess, I would say about 20 times, all with no responses back to me. It seems like just because of the questionable decision making by this assistant manager, I get the raw end of the deal and have to discontinue buying and selling with Manheim nationwide??. Sounds incredibly unfair in my book.Business Response

This claim has already been addressed through Manheims legal team. The decision to not conduct business with this dealership and individual will stand.Customer Answer

I understand Manheims present stance on this issue. I wanted to see if a fair outcome could be reached.
Just to be clear, we were told its ok to sell a car with a mileage discrepancy as long as its ten years old or older-no matter where the discrepancy originated.
When I bought a car with rolled back miles, I was told I couldnt complain and I should just deal with the loss.
But when I sell a car a year later with this discrepancy that I caused (and did not announce properly) I am told that I have no recourse.
This seems to be the way Manheim conducts business
It is incredibly hypocritical and prejudice against certain business that *** not profit Manheim as much as another business. The rules should stand firm for all and give everyone and equal opportunity.

See the attached for more information. In short, the summary is as follows. Manheim has sold my vehicle without having physical possession of title, sold the vehicle against my wishes and over my objection, and to make it worse, sold the vehicle at a fire sale price to a company who we believe is just an affiliate of Manheim. While both Manheim and myself made the original error by submitting a title with an improper signature, overlooked by me, and also approved and overlooked by Manheim, and the first sale fell through (placing me in debt to Manheim for $98K) since then I now have a buyer to make them completely whole, for the full $98K, meanwhile they already off set $42,000 of my money from another sale, and now want to try to strong arm me into selling the existing vehicle for $86,000 and opposed to $98,000 and Im supposed to eat the difference. It seems evidence that they sold the vehicle without having proper title, and they are looking to strong arm me into eating the $12,000 loss for their ***** error. Im not a $2 billion dollar company like Manheimand they are simply trying to pressure someone who barely clears $50,000 in a year. I want Manheim either to (a) permit me to sell my vehicle for the true price of $98,000 so I may cure their loss in full, or (b) force Manheim to continue negotiating with their client to increase the sale price from $86,000 to $98,000 and effectively eliminating the debt owed. Plus if that is the case, I need my $42,000 back which was absconded from me.Business Response

I bought a 2013 **** fiesta from Manheim *********** on March 8 2022 for 7.980.00 green light which states title is on hand .The seller was ********************** **** As of today May 19th 2022 ,I still haven't received a title for this vehicle. I've called every other day about the title with no help or even return calls about this matter. I have serviced this vehicle, I have a signed bank contract on this vehicle. The only help I've received from Manheim was I was told I can return the vehicle, which puts me in a great loss . I have found out on my own that the seller ********************** *** bought the vehicle a week prior at ************ "blue light" which means title absent. Then I purchased the vehicle the following week green light so the seller lied to Manheim New England about title status or Manheim New England screwed up either way I'm the one at a loss ,As the seller is there ever week running cars while I'm still waiting without any updates on this matter.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Manheim claims they have been in constant contact is laughable, Two or three email's and two phone calls in 70 plus days is not constant contact, Matter of fact we emailed Manheim two days ago and still haven't received a response. If you mean us making time to call Manheim but you never response then yes, but if we never call, we would never get any updates .Why would we return the vehicle and be at a loss ,vehicle needed tires, brake rotors ,pads ,full detail, plus loss of sale. Is Manheim willing to pay for my loss of revenue? or the seller? You say you have documented contact why didn't you provide it, because I'm sure its us calling you not the other way around.&0 plus days for a title is ridiculous amount of time on a green light car.
Sincerely,
