Public Storage on Old Bridge Rd is NOT a facility I will do business with anymore. They charged us for two units for one month, after they promised us they would just transfer the billing. The issue was specifically that we open a smaller unit up from a larger one on the same day and moved all our stuff that same day. They told us they would transfer the bill, but the sales person put the second unit in my wife's name (with the same credit card) and by opening a second account they now claim they had the right to bill us for both units for the full month of May 2022. We moved on May 2nd and specifically asked if we could do a transfer and NOT be billed for both units for May. The local sales guy said yes but messed up by opening the 2nd unit in my wife's name not mine, thus they claim it's a "new account" Even though the last names are the same and the credit card is the same. Local manager was rude after three engagements, the national office said talk to him, he said talk to them - clearly they are just keeping our money. Good news is there are many other higher rated facilities in the area so after 2 years with no problems we are moving out and advise others to be careful.

So we will be moving and advise others with this facility to read the fine print and avoid them. Too bad we had been there for two years with no problem, not sure if its just new management or the manager himself or a corporate behavior - ah well there are many others to choose from in the area.

I signed up online for the public storage located at 8101 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX. I have used Public Storage before and they are not my favorite but because I had movers that were unloading at my apartment and then whatever didn't fit needed to go into storage Public Storage was the closest place as my time was limited. In my opinion the people at this facility all they care about is getting off the clock, they don't care about the people who pay money to rent this facility that pays their salary and keeps them in business. They advertise that you can use the facility up to 9 PM after the office is closed to go in and out of your storage. But they don't leave the restroom facilities open nor do they leave any of the carts to be able to carry your stuff in and out available. They treat everyone like they are a thief it's just a practice that I don't agree with yes to use the code to go in and out of the elevator which is totally ridiculous. I hired movers to move my stuff into my storage space and when I got there my code did not work to get into the gate. They told me it was because I registered online for move-in date but a move-in date was the middle of the month but Public Storage took money out of my account at the beginning of the month and told me I could move in any day that I wanted. If I had not gotten there right before they closed with Movers paying them by the hour I would not been able to move in that day. No one told me and I spoke to them had to chase them down because they don't return phone calls and that all is well for me to move in. Well it wasn't. I return to work in LA until June when I return back to Austin I will be moving my stuff out of Public Storage forget I don't agree with their business policies are the way their employees implement them. So why should I be paying you my hard earned money?

I paid for the first month prior to arriving management said if you can prepay six months do it because it's a bait and switch, they will increase rates each month until your at the number they want almost double the $52 I paid. I'm actually surprised that people do business in this manner. On cancellation they kept a $29 admin fee for which they did absolutely nothing whatsoever since I canceled prior to move in. I'm amazed that businesses are a comfortable charging people money for something they're not giving to them and return this is a scam is a bait and switch do not give them your money stay away from this company

This has been probably the worst experience of my life with a storage unit. I have been in my unit for 1 year and 2 months. 7 months into my rental, the price was randomly increased by $30. Unfortunate and unnecessary but still cheaper than most. This month, my rent was increased by ANOTHER $75!! Why? The CEO of the company has a net worth of 23.5 MILLION dollars and the company is randomly and needlessly increasing rates left and right. There is no reason that I should be experiencing a 52% increase in rent for a years worth of loyalty. Especially after temperature damage in my "climate-controlled" unit. They disconnected my auto pay randomly. AND when calling in to voice my concerns the rep repeatedly interrupted me, wouldn't let me speak, and offered a price decrease to $274.50. Last month I paid $230 for rent. It was raised to $305, and the best they were willing to offer was a $30.50 discount on the outrageous price increase. The excuse given to me by the rep is that they can only offer current move-in rates. Yet The same size climate-controlled unit is available online for $218. I reached out to a chat representative due to the rudeness of the call center agent and he was honestly worse. Informing me prices are based on current market value while ignoring the fact that I could literally move out of my unit and into another one within the same company for nearly $100 less. Do not use Public Storage. Customer service sucks. They don't care about you or your stuff. They will raise your prices.

My rent "in these challenging times" increased from $278 to $376. This increase is total extortion.
