Burdette’s offers a lifetime guarantee on their campers as long as you get your camper inspected each year and turn in your paperwork just as we have done. We told them that our oven is not properly functioning because it takes more than ten minutes to light the oven while holding in and releasing propane into the air. Burdette’s was unable to properly fix the unit even though it is covered under the lifetime guarantee. Their “fix” was to light the stove (adding additional fumes) and then light the stove which is not the correct way to light the stove. You should be able to hold on the igniter and crank the knob a few times and the stove should ignite; however, it takes over 10 minutes to get it going. I have contacted **** and spoke to ***** *********, the lady who handles safety concerns at ****. She stated that their “fix” was not adequate and turning on the stove to light the oven was not the proper procedure and could release unnecessary fumes in the camper. I have called and texted the owner of Burdette’s, Phil *****, several times and requested that he call me back with no success. I’ve asked the salesman there, Bubby, and the lady that manages the work done there, ****** **********r, to have Phil reach out as well to resolve this issue but he did not do so. Sherry kept insisting that since they could get the oven to light by first lighting the stovetop that the oven was not faulty. She even sent me a video to show that it was working so I asked what they did to fix it and she told me, “Nothing. The screenshot was the first ignition after letting a stove burner run for about 20 seconds or so. Then I walked out and made that video.” I voiced my concern that this was a bandaid fix and did not properly address the issue and she disagreed. She then proceeded to try to charge me $60 some extra dollars for this issue because they pulled the camper back in to examine this issue even though they should have addressed this issue when they were doing other work we requested but they failed to do so. I had to argue with her during pickup to get her to remove the charge. Bottom line, I would like my oven camper to function the way it was intended vs having to put extra fumes in the air and using a work around to get it started.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Burdette Camping Center ignored my complaint, and has done nothing to resolve this issue.  I’m not sure why they aren’t living up to their lifetime warranty that they offer. It seems strange to me that they wouldn’t have just called the warranty department and filed a claim since the appliance that isn’t working is covered. I’m not sure if it’s money out of their pocket if they have to fix items that are part of the warranty or if they don’t have the technicians with the skill sets to fix something like this, but something isn’t right.  Since we reported this complaint, we checked other work that was supposedly done and fixed while our camper was being serviced and found out that work was not completed either.  They lied to us and charged us for service that was not completed. Even though it says on my receipt that if I am not  completely satisfied within 30 days, the work is warranted and they will make it right; however, when I brought it to their attention, they told me to no longer contact them any more.

Something needs to be done about this business.  They are claiming that they are properly fixing campers that they are clearly failing to do so and charging people for work that is not being done.

    Buyer Beware- Go somewhere else!!!!

Obviously we can not satisfy this customer. We are not replacing a part that's working. Regardless of our efforts, unless we do repairs at no cost to the customer they are never happy. We are not interested in continuing this relationship.

    Thanks
