I went to treatment there about a year ago. I drove by myself from New York to West Virginia. Wasn’t my best of times and I was desperate for relief. Decided to try something different and went all the way to West Virginia. I can honestly say, the place is a scam. They display a pretty facade and the location was absolutely gorgeous, but the structure of the treatment plan was very flawed. We had to sit through various workshops throughout the day on various topics. I have a background in medicine, well actually I went to medical school, and I have to say the information they were relaying to the patients there was NOT fact checked. Full of errors and outlandish ideas. I was actually in a workshop on Anger Management. The therapist mentioned that Homosexuality was a part of the sickness of addiction. I almost lost my mind, got up and left. I was there for about a week and a half. Can’t tell you why I persisted in staying there. One of the therapists I saw while I was there actually said to me ‘get your **** together’. I was sitting in front of her in shock. Just got up and left. I asked for another therapist. I should’ve complained but I knew nothing would’ve been done. As soon as I arrived there, they took away my phone and wallet. I felt as if I was being watched and listened to in my private room. I brought it up with Jacob M**, head of operations, and he actually said to me (I wish I could make this up), ‘yes you’re right, we do watch and listen to you in your private quarters’. Again, say there in shock. He proceeded to be condescending and then told me I should continue staying there for my well being (this was after I kept repeatedly asking for my car keys and belongings because I wanted to leave that creepy place). I finally made enough ruckus that they had to let me go (mind you, I admitted myself voluntarily). There was so much wrong with that place. It’s simply an easy way for them to make money and an easy way to take advantage of vulnerable people.

When I arrived I was a mess. I had gave upon myself and life I felt hopeless. The first person I met when I arrived Miranda. Miranda is a amazing BHT who not only made me feel welcome but cried with me when I told my story. After 13 years I had just recently lost my husband, best friend, everything to an overdose. I had spent two months trying to join my husband in death and waking up angry My husband saved my life but his ended that night. I was so lost Miranda and Makayla told me that I might not love myself right now and that was ok because they would love me until I could love myself. And they actually did. HRTCT has some incredible staff and I want to give each of them some praise. Miranda just radiates so much love and compassion. Chasity just tells you how it is, she has no filter and if you ask her to sing Burning House you will just fall in love with her angelic voice but don't get it twisted that voice will get real loud if you * ** Makayla is such a calm, understanding, intelligent therapist. Hailey is so overworked but stays so positive and keeps that big beautiful smile on her face. Chappy and Shana work the nights and they never stop. if you get an opportunity to talk to them have them tell you about how they recovered .Matt not only makes meals but he also sits in the group and honestly he deserves to be a group faciliatory. He is so real and passionate about recovery. the supervisor Brandon who is responsible for all these talented people. He looks so stressed and angry but that's just his face. He is one of the best men I have ever known and he cares. I have witnessed him stepping in between clients with no concern for his own safety. I owe my recovery to these amazing people. They supported and believed in me when I couldn't believe in myself. Thank God for all the staff and clients at Harmony Ridge. If you or your loved ones are suffering from addiction I guarantee if they give HRTC a chance they can save your life too. Sincerely ******* ******

I would not even give this facility a one star. Staff does not do what the rules say no enforce nor hold people accountable there is not recovery here it is a 28 detox center everything listed online is not a reality they lied to my wife and to myself on the phone about availability of therapist case managers and personnel available to help me with my issues. I had to request ambulatory services to transport me from the facility due to the lies that we were told someone somewhere should be holding this business accountable I am in the process of filing a lawsuit because it is absolutely unacceptable to offer services that are not provided.
