I am currently waiting for a new debit card. I rarely ever write checks. I was 40 minutes from home with a cart FULL of groceries and my check go denied because it wasnt verified by telecheck. For background, TeleCheck is a check acceptance company and specialty credit reporting agency which works with merchants
nationwide who wish to accept payment by check. For many merchants, TeleCheck also provides warranty services. As part of
its services, TeleCheck evaluates and processes check payments at the point of sale for its merchant clients by evaluating
transactions against its database. If TeleCheck accepts a check, it guarantees payment to the merchant even if the check returns
unpaid for some reason.1
TeleCheck will decline a check when there are negative items associated with a check writer in its
database (a Code 4 decline) or when a statistical analysis of the check and the transaction indicates a greater risk that a check
will not clear than a merchant is willing to accept.2
In those instances, TeleCheck will issue a Code 3 decline.
While we understand your frustration, we need a little more information to help us locate the specific declines in our system so
we can help resolve your concerns. With this information we should be able to better figure out why you received the decline
and see if there are any additional steps that we can take to minimize the chance you will receive any other declines in the

For background, TeleCheck is a check acceptance company and specialty credit reporting agency which works with merchants
like Family Dollar nationwide who wish to accept payment by check. As part of its services, TeleCheck evaluates, and
processes check payments at the point of sale for its merchant clients by evaluating transactions against its database. If
TeleCheck accepts a check, it guarantees payment to the merchant even if the check returns unpaid for some reason.1
TeleCheck will decline a check when there are negative items associated with a check writer in its database (a Code 4

unauthorized debit from your checking account. The debit, a $120.00 item paid to Genesis-FS **** Services on May 25, 2022
was processed on a Central One ******************** checking account ending in 6708.
We would like to apologize for any frustration this debit may have caused and for your interaction with our customer service
center. Please understand our representative was not refusing to provide information to you about the debit but given the
information you provided, was unable to locate it. Since then, we have been able to locate it but as discussed below, TeleCheck
cannot modify the transaction at this point. Accordingly, our recommendation is that you dispute it with your financial
institution Central One ********************.
The debit transaction here to Genesis-FS **** Services on May 25, 2022 was approved1
by TeleCheck. After TeleCheck
approved it, the transaction was submitted for payment to your bank via the *** network. Once a transaction processes
successfully, there is unfortunately no further action TeleCheck can take regarding it until you dispute this with your bank. If
your dispute is successful, your bank will generate a return the merchant and funds will be returned to you. Once that occurs,

On April 10th, 2022 I wrote check# **** in the amount of $47.04 at Giant Food Stores. Between the time the check was written and presented to my account for payment I had debit card fraud hit my account which took my account into the negative, which then caused the check to be rejected. I addressed this issue with my bank and the funds were returned to my account. Then on April 28th 2022 the check was represented to my bank and cleared my account. On 4/29/22 I went to Giant and wrote check #**** which was declined due to Telecheck. When I reached out to them I was told it would take up to **** days for their system to update, ok fine. On 5/12/22 I once again attempted to write check #**** in the amount of $29.45 at Giant and it was declined. When I called Telecheck the recording told me that there was no debt on my account, but my account was cited at high risk. When I spoke to a representative they stated all history was deleted from my account so I would have to rebuild that and to give it 72hrs. Now today 5/17/22 I once again attempted to write check #**** in the amount of $59.45 and once again it came up flagged as high risk. The employee at Giant said they can not override it and I need to talk to Telecheck. I once again called Telecheck and told them what happened and asked them to remove whatever flag they had on my account. The representative recommended I try another check. Why would I try another check when they have it flagged. I am beyond fed up. I have written checks at Giant for over 20 years with no issue until now.Business Response

With the information in your complaint, we were able to locate the transactions in question. The transaction with Trace ID
*********************** was processed on a Pennsylvania State ********************** checking account ending in ******* and
returned from the bank on April 22, 2022 for insufficient funds, which we now understand from your complaint was related to
fraudulent activity on that account. After the bank corrected the debit card fraud and credited funds back to your bank account, the

I went to write a check at ******* on 5/15/2022 in the amount of ****** and was declined with a code 3. I was told to many transactions on this account that is not a normal pattern. This is very false information. Along with it being payday, I grocery shop at several stores and write large amounts of checks. any frustration these declines have caused as that is certainly not our intention. As discussed below, this issue appears resolved.
For background, TeleCheck is a check acceptance company and specialty credit reporting agency which works with merchants
nationwide who wish to accept payment by check. For many merchants, TeleCheck also provides warranty services. As part of its
services, TeleCheck evaluates, and processes check payments at the point of sale for its merchant clients by evaluating transactions
against its database. If TeleCheck accepts a check, it guarantees payment to the merchant even if the check returns unpaid for some
reason.1 TeleCheck will decline a check when there are negative items associated with a check writer in its database (a Code 4
decline) or when a statistical analysis of the check and the transaction indicates a greater risk that a check will not clear than a
merchant is willing to accept.2 In those instances, TeleCheck will issue a Code 3 decline.3With the information in your complaint, we were able to locate the transactions in question and the Trace IDs associated with them,4
which were processed on a Bank of ****** checking account ending in *******. TeleCheck issued a Code 3 decline for these
transactions because of a high level of recent activity associated with this checking account and because the recent transaction history
was not within your usual check writing patterns. However, as a result of the information provided in your complaint, TeleCheck has
made some modifications to your information in our system which we believe will reduce the likelihood of future Code 3 declines. As
of this letter, TeleChecks system indicates that you received two check approvals: one on May 16, 2022 for a check written to
Walmart **** for $293.01 (check *****) and another on May 17, 2022 at ******************** 366 for $61.29 (check number *****), so we

Telecheck steals merchants money by taking 1.5% fee on all checks even if the check is not deposited into the owners business account. They have stolen $360 of my money when they should have taken $14. I use clover merchant services and clover is also not aware of this...except for today when I got them on a 3 way call. Twice they hung up. The final time they admitted to taking the fees. FRAUD.Also, I thought a $500 check was deposited using tele check. It was declined. I am in receipt of your Better Business Bureau complaint and wanted to follow up with you regarding the complaint.
In your terms and conditions with TeleCheck you agreed to be charged ****% of all transactions processed and $.20 per transaction. This is charged whether the check is approved or not because you are inquiring TeleChecks database.
You processed checks multiple times and were charged for every inquiry. As a courtesy, I have asked to have the duplicate check charges refunded. The amount of the duplicate checks that you processed was $18,500.00,I multiplied that by ****% as this amount is the processing amount you agreed to. There were 6 duplicate checks in total. As another courtesy I requested to have the $1.20 in transactions fees refunded as well. The total amount to be refunded is $278.70.
Your account with TeleCheck has been cancelled as of April 26,2022.
Your refund approval will take 5 7 business days. When the refund is approved we will electronically refund. This process will take **** business days depending on your financial institution.

I have submitted 3 disputes with Telecheck and all 3 were denied. I have been dealing with this for 2 months. I recently got another **** for $366.33 AFTER my tele check account was cancelled. What they are doing is FRAUD. Just because they agree to give me a refund doesn't mean that they will. I have stopped any draft leaving my business bank account simply because if you search for Telecheck FRAUD online it seems to be a huge issue across *****************.I want my name or my business removed permanently from the TELECHECK database. I also DO NOT want to get another **** .
You cant convince me that 1.5 % fee is fair for any business attempting to use a service. All it boils down to is that TELECHECK is taking merhants money even if their services are c*** I regret ever trusting this fraudulently company. I expect a refund and not another **** in the mail.

TeleCheck bills a month behind meaning transactions in March would be billed in April. This the reason that you received an invoice after your account was closed. This was your last invoice from TeleCheck you will not receive another one.
As per your term and conditions acknowledgement when signing up for TeleCheck with your Clover device you agreed to the 1.5% processing fee for checks. These fees are very clearly laid out in the sign-up process. We apologize that we did not meet your expectations.

I received the invoice AFTER I PAID telecheck... It took an act of congress and many 3 ways calls to Clover processing and Telecheck on the phone to actually get anyone to listen. This will be resolved IF and WHEN i get a full refund.
Regarding the agreement - no one, NO ONE in their right mind would or even should agree to a 1.5% processing fee when its free at any local BANK. Also, telecheck charged me 1.5% on checks that we attempted to deposit. These checks were not even in my account.

Tele check and their collection company keeps calling and sending letters about $100 for apparently a check I wrote, when I call them to ask information about the check they ask for my bank account #, their routing number, my DL# and SS# to pull out my account information, obviously Im not giving any of that information, I gave them the account number associated with their account but apparently cant find any information, #1 I had no idea who they were until I started to get phone calls from them, I do not do any business with them. #2 I do not use checks to make payments nor transactions. While we sincerely apologize for any frustration that our collection efforts may have caused, our and our agencys efforts are not scams but rather efforts to collect on debts which were assigned to us by Penn Interactive Ventures LLC. As discussed below and reflected on the attached debt validations, these items were linked to you through banking information and a SSN.
Relevant here, TeleCheck is a check processing company that offers warranty services.When TeleCheck accepts a check for processing, it provides a warranty in the event the check returns unpaid. Here, Penn Interactive customers can tie their gaming account to a checking account as a form of payment. Those transactions are electronically processed like a check even though no check is actually involved.
Both items above were processed as checks (a $90.00 check transaction and a $100.00 check transaction, each on February 13, 2022 on a *********** checking account ending in 5886)[1],returned unpaid, and were warrantied by TeleCheck who then acquired ownership of the debt items. As part of our investigation, we contacted Penn Interactive who provided the enclosed electronic receipts as validations. TeleCheck warrantied these items for Penn Ventures and they were assigned to Transworld for collection on April 3, 2022.
With the above information, we may be able to update our records to reflect that these items were the product of fraud or identity theft.
