I hired this company to build an outdoor staircase with a wood handrail. I was told they have a three-week turnover time. Untrue. The person who bid the job also told me he would be the person doing the actual work. Also untrue. They farmed the project out to a subcontractor who. as I later found out, they had problems with in the past. The subcontractors were here a total of 3 hours a day, when they showed up at all. They built a set of crooked, uneven steps that did not start/stop where I requested. The handrail was set about 15" from the edge of the steps. It wobbled and was bowed in the middle. Eventually, Handyman connection sent a contractor down to fix the problems, but that was only after things got really ugly and an employee (*****) threatened to stop all construction at the site and leave me with a pile of materials in my yard, a gigantic mess, and no one to finish the project. Plus, I would have to pay the subcontractors, she said. I will NEVER hire Handyman ** again. They claim they subcontracted my stair project out to a trusted contractor, but one of their own employees told me that they had trouble with this company in the past. They also claim that I misunderstood ******* threat to abandon the project entirely, but that is a lie. There was a witness to the conversation and numerous texts to back my story up. Apparently, lies and shady business practices are their specialty.

We apologize for the frustrations you experienced. Several factors impacted your project, including material delays, weather, and your changes to the design, which required us to reorder materials. Initially, our lead craftsman planned to handle the work, but due to your timeline, we brought in a trusted, licensed, insured and background checked subcontractor. Unfortunately, the first attempt at building the stairs and handrail didn't meet your expectations, so we sent two additional craftsmen to correct the issues. Regarding the conversation with *****, we understand the confusion. She informed you that the new team would come to fix the issues and that the materials would be left on-site until they returned. However, the message was misinterpreted, and you felt we were abandoning the job. That was never our intention. We promptly sent another crew to finish the work and made sure to address all your concerns before collecting final payment. We sincerely apologize for the confusion, miscommunication, and the frustration this situation caused. We truly appreciate your patience, and we are committed to improving our communication to ensure a better experience moving forward. Thank you for sharing your feedback.
