In December, 2021, API Security invoiced our company, the ******** ******* **** *******, for "advance monitoring services for 2022" for our security system. An API tech appeared AFTER the bill for $516 had been erroneously paid by our Accounts Payable Dept. and said that our security system was sending a message that "there is something wrong with your phone lines." The tech wanted to install a "cellular model." I researched the issue immediately. My employer purchased the system in 2017. In the fall of 2019, our company purchased a new phone system which routed all calls through the Internet. Our organization has not had phone lines since the fall of 2019. Until 2022, monitoring services had been paid using barter points. All barter company correspondence had been sent to my employer's personal email so Administration knew nothing about it. However, the barter company adjusted our account to reflect that we had no need for monitoring for 2020-2021. API, however, has refused to refund the $516 paid in advance in January, 2022. When I contacted Ed J*******, the owner, he was arrogant, nasty and he refused to refund the money. I tried to speak with him again and he hung up on me.

The individual who filed the complaint is a third party, not the person who signed the contract. The original contract was signed by an individual who unfortunately has passed. The individual who filed the complaint is neither the signer, a party to the contract or the executor of the estate. Please close this as a third party complaint. Thank you.

I received your answer to our complaint. Where did you obtain information about this account? **** ** ****, founder of the ******** ******* **** *******, passed away in September, 2021. ******** ****, one of **** ** ****'s adult children, will find it incredible that the BBB has him listed as "deceased." Mrs. ****** **** is my employer and owns the company. If you want the complaint with HER signature, that can be arranged.

I am wondering about the efficiency of the BBB. What services DOES your organization provide? API definitely fraudulently obtained money from the ******** ******* **** *******. Isn't that all that you need to know? My bona fides can be checked - obviously you don't feel the same way. Filing a complaint to the BBB was a complete waste of time.
