  We are in the final stages of having DeCenzo builders do a significant kitchen remodel on our nearly 100 year old house. In addition, a couple of other projects were added into the initial remodeling plans. The architect was recommended by *** DeCenzo and he did a great job with the initial plans. After consultation with ***, we were able to get our project started in a very timely fashion. Work, in our opinion, has progressed very rapidly. In fact, and this is a direct quote from our daughter who stated, Seriously, the most efficient contractor ever. This efficiency is in no small part due to *** and his crew being in contact with us and/or on site to work and to consult with his subcontractors pretty much on a daily basis. As you can imagine, there are always some surprises when remodeling an older house but *** has offered good solutions to those issues. The quality of work performed by ***, his crew, and all of his subcontractors has been outstanding. His very skilled subcontractors have been hard-working, punctual, and personable. There have been very few days were nothing has been going on at our house. Some days three or four subcontractors have been here at the same time. Again, all very impressive. I would be remiss if I did not mention *********, who has been instrumental in designing our new cabinetry. She was able to offer us a variety of choices for the design, and we have been quite pleased.

  We contracted with this company to remodel our average sized kitchen which took an overly long length of time to complete. The lack of planning on the part of the contractor (calling for subs, sourcing the materials, etc.) caused long delays in completion so what should have taken at most 2 months took over 4 months to complete. There was poor communication between contractor and subs which meant subs showed up without a clear understanding of what was needed which meant multiple trips to finish the job. And none of the contractors staff ever seemed to know where things were in the project. We spent 6 weeks without a kitchen or sink on the first floor. At the very end we discovered this contractor charged $35 per square foot in labor (we bought the tile) to install a simple 42 square foot tile backsplash, 3 times more than the average cost. The cost of the backsplash exceeded the cost for shelving for a walk in pantry. Mistakes made in applying payments caused a dispute over the actual balance due (it was us, not the contractor who found the discrepancy). Learn from our mistakes if using this contractor: Ask for a complete itemized list (materials and labor) for every aspect of the project, a specific project plan with estimated dates and times for completion that is updated throughout the project (and question every delay), and be vigilant on the accounting.
