On 6/3/22, Adam ******* and Deck Tech LLC installed aluminum railings on two 2nd floor flat-roof porches. From the initial consultation, I expressed concern about installation method, how much drilling would be involved, and what waterproofing measures could be taken to ensure the integrity of the roof was maintained, and was repeatedly reassured that installation would be water-tight. On installation day I was told that silicone would be put in each drill hole as a protective measure. The entire project was completed in about 4 hours, and when I asked to confirm silicone was used in drill holes I was told it was not. After they left I noticed two uncovered, open drill holes on one of the roofs. In addition to the poor installation, I called the city of Cleveland Hts and learned they did not request the permit they charged me for. I was charged for a full dumpster, which ended up being shared with another job. Was charged for caulk they did not use. On June 6th it rained, and for the first time since we bought this house in July 2018, we experienced leaking along the ceiling of the room under the right side porch. I texed Adam a photo of the dripping water and he called about an hour later saying he would come the next day. He came the following morning with a tarp to cover the porch and said he would come back when it dried out to seal the roof. He never returned and stopped answering calls and texts. We continued to experience leaking anytime it rained and ultimately had to have both flat roofs replaced and the railings re-installed in an above-surface method that didn't require drilling into the roof, costing $7155. When the railings were removed each post was holding and pooling water at the base plates. For the roof damage caused by Deck Tech LLC's faulty installation I am asking that they refund $2988- everything outside the cost of the railings themselves. Total paid was $7406, $4418 for the railings.
