8/18/23 we bought paneling from Lowe’s in Livingston to go into enclosed garage. August 25th ***** ******* our contractor began installing. September 5th we noticed paneling warping. Contacted business September 11th. Business sent claim forms. I returned them to business. 10/11/23 DPI denied claim.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/14/2023

DPI's investigation as a result of information obtained from the consumer indicated that there were the following facts:

    1.  Product was installed in a non-climate controlled environment (garage).  No climate control other than fans in the garage and no control of humidity.

    2.  DPI paneling products are composite wood and require space to move.  Installing paneling tight prevents normal expansion between panels and expansion at the floor and ceiling.  Photos show no spacing allowed during installation.

    3.  Humidity in Nacogdoches, TX on August 25, 2023 was in excess of 100 degrees F and greater that 60% relative humidity.  There was no indication of prior conditioning the wood panels for 24 - 48 hours in the garage prior to installation.

    4.  The Lowes Store is climate controlled and the wood based panels were installed in an non-climate controlled environment where the change in air moisture (humidity) effected the wood panels causing expansion.

This claim was denied as a result of improper conditioning, lack of proper spacing and installation in a non-climate controlled environment.
