i took my Mazda in for a wheel hub replacement. they were able to replace the part but once completed the car would not start. they said they were able to jump the car and put it outside. upon arrival my windows and sunroof was opened and the car was stuck in what appears to be an anti theft mode. i asked them if the could diagnose it but the said they could not get me into next week. they refused to store it inside and said i just have to have it towed away then back. i now will have it towed to a PROFESSIONAL mechanic and get his opinion on if this was cause by their mechanics. Besides the car now not working i would love to know what kind of practice it is to open your sunroof to fix a wheel hub, and then basically tell you it your problem. i cant even maually shut my sunroof. so now im stuck with no covered parking and plastic wrap on my window and roof. Its saddening that you drive a car in and it wont drive out and all they wanted was paid. my outcome is tbd, and i will be filling a legal complaint if this is determined to be caused by the business

Customer brought the vehicle in for a wheel bearing noise. Upon checking customer had a wheel bearing that needed replaced. Shop replaced the wheel bearing and after repairs vehicle went into some kind of security lock mode. Key fobs would not work with the vehicle to start, or even provide power. Customer was informed of this and told that we would have to do diagnostic work to try and figure out what the issue with the vehicle was. Customer declined services. Customer had stated that he had just purchased the vehicle recently and had to have the key fobs reprogrammed for the vehicle after purchase. No repairs we did would have had any effect on the operation of the vehicle. Customer was informed we could diagnose the vehicle and would have to get into it. Customer declined the services. In no way did we do any work related to electrical systems, or vehicle engine work that would cause this issue. Customer is the one who made the determination to tow the vehicle out of our shop.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

i have had the vehicle in the shop now for 2 days and they have come to the idea that when zeigler jumped my mazda that they blew the meter fuse by crossing polarity on the battery. this has now cause an electrical issue that is still being diagnosed.

The shop being dealt with that stated that we cross connected when we jumped started the vehicle, is not aware of the fact that if the cables on the battery jump pack are connected incorrectly, negative to the positive and positive to the negative, the vehicle will not start at all, and the battery jump pack will fail to operate. The technician who jumps started the vehicle, has over 15 years' experience as an auto mechanic. There is no way that our technician would have been able to jump start the vehicle cross connecting the battery jumper cables and connecting them the wrong way. The vehicle would have failed to start, there would be possibly loud sparking, and the vehicle would not have started at all.

Customer stated in front of several staff that He had been having problems with the vehicle since he purchased it. Customer was informed that we could diagnose the vehicle to find out what was wrong with it if he would leave it with us. Customer refused services at that time and made the decision to tow the vehicle out. The work we did, replacing a ball joint, and then jump starting the car would not have caused the car to go into a security mode, not allowing the vehicle to turn on, or operate.

We are more than happy to try an assist the customer with this, as he was informed at the time of service. All we asked was that he leave the vehicle with us for a little bit so that we could get to it and figure out what was going on with his vehicle. The customer made the determination not to leave the vehicle with us to take care of this issue. In no way could we have jump started the vehicle and got it to run if the battery jump box was cross wired.
