    The contract with Vector does not say or indicate that service to the system is only provided for those with continuous monthly monitoring. Our service was modified by a Vector employee to operate in our home locally, without monitoring, and it has been operating that way for about eight or so years---and that works beautifully for us because it alerts us if/when someone tries to enter our home at any door or window. About 2-3 weeks ago, the system alerted me that I needed a new lithium battery---and a very disturbing signal kept going on every few minutes. So, I had to disconnect the system from the electric to stop the signal. I contacted the Mansfield, Ohio, office and they said I was in their service area, but upon learning we were not a monitoring customer, they said they don't service those customers. Monitoring in our locations is not necessary, but the system is. I now have a system that is inoperable, even through one of their technicians modified it to operating without monitoring. To me, Vector has responsibility to service my system and I am willing to pay the bill. I would never, ever recommend this company because they want the monthly monitoring money---and care nothing about providing customer security. When we were paying for the monitoring and the system would go off for some reason, there were times that we did not receive a call to make sure we were OK. That's why we gave up the monthly monitoring---the system operating on our home locally was all we needed. And, we did buy the system----nothing was ever said about required monitoring after the initial 36 months.
