The first part of Dec 2021 my husband was taken by ambulance to Lima Memorial hospital. The care was wonderful. The billing department is a nightmare. The stress and time lost is unbelievable. I still needed to deal with bills from follow-up. When I received a bill I sent a check to the address directed to use. I included the bill stub and indicated on the memo line what the check was for. I would continue to get bills for that date of service. When calling I was told I had not paid on that bill. My payment was applied to a different date. Often it was applied to a date that was still in process because of incorrect billing. I was told the only way to get payments applied correctly was to call the billing office in Lima and do a phone payment. Then I was told that was wrong, I needed to mail to the hospital not the indicated address. I was told there was no way to move payments in the department that answered the phone and no way to talk to anyone that could help. I received many statement from the hospital saying the insurance company needed further information but they didn't know what. When I called the hospital to get a date of service I was told to disregard. Then I would get a bill for payment in full. Insurance hadn't paid. Often I would be told I had no outstanding bills or pending with insurance and continue to get bills. One phone call I went from being told I had an amount due to I had credit. the amount changed several times. I was told I could not get the overpayment back. They held it to apply to next bill. In January supervisor found 3 bills due. She calculated my coinsurance less the credit. I made a phone payment to clear the books completely. Then a few weeks later, I got 3 bills. I emailed the supervisor and told to disregard them. I continue getting bills.
