We purchased a Red Footed Tortoise on June 6th 2024. They were the only ones with tortoises around and we wanted one for our Autistic sons birthday. We walked in and the owners daughter sold us a baby tortoise with all of the items as well as hand written instructions from the owner on how to care for the tortoise. The owner was not there. We got home with the tortoise and we noticed he wouldn't open his eyes. We called the owner and she explained that sometimes new baby tortoises eyes get stuck shut and they need help opening them. We brought the tortoise back in for her to show us how to do it safely. We left the tortoise there after watching her try to open them for AN HOUR. I had to go pick up my son.She called back and said that she couldn't get its eyes open and she was going to have her partner look at it. She said in case it was sick we could pick out a different one. We gave her the benefit of the doubt and got a new one. It died within the week. We got in touch with a tortoise forum and it turns out all the supplies she sold us were incorrect. All the instructions of care were so far off. The tortoise died because we followed HER hand written care plan. when I tried calling her she didnt answer so I texted her. She said she was at the hospital and couldnt answer. She never tried calling me back. When I went in to get the tortoises eyes opened, she had about 5 adult tortoises just walking around the floor. I kicked one accidentally because I obviously don't expect one to be on the floor. She didnt even warn me they were out. There were two raccoons in a tiny terrarium that she said she rescued and someone was going to come pick them up. weird. When I started reading reviews from months ago people were saying they were finding dead bearded dragons in the store front and she lied about them sleeping. She since has taken down all the reviews but the good ones. She was walking around in her socks while working. She is also opening up a daycare which scares me.

I would like a refund. The items provided for the tortoise were not Correct as well as the care instructions the owner gave us. The first tortoise she gave us was sick and we had to return it and the owner was very vague as to what was really going on. The second tortoise lasted only a week and we realized all the care instructions she gave us were not correct for this tortoise as well as the items she gave us. For selling us used items that we agreed on but them not being correct and the tortoise not lasting, we want our money back. You should be able to trust the person who is selling you these animals.
