Pete & Pete had a truck on the highway (approx. speed 65 MPH) and it had a full load of trash. The driver did not have the cover up and over the trash and it spilled out into the freeway and a few pieces and parts hit my Jeep Wranger causing the windshield to crack. After discussing with Pete & Pete, they agreed to replace the windshield but upon only driving it home, the windshield cracked again. I took my Jeep into the dealership to inspect, and they stated that the glass should be under warranty and should be replaced by those that put it in as it was not put in correctly. You can tell that each side of the Jeep has a differently part of the glass protruding. The glass is not cracked again and I cannot drive it and the company ****** *****, that installed it, is not willing to replace. I just want my Jeep back in the same condition it was before Pete & Pete container service acted wreckless.

    Business Response

The owner of the vehicle did not request the vehicle windshield be replaced by the dealer of the vehicle.  Had he done so, we would have certainly obliged.  With that being said, we used ** ****, to which the owner of the vehicle did not contest.  ** **** is a very reputable company that has replaced many windshields for us, specifically those on our fleet of trucks.  Never in the course of doing business with ** **** have we had a windshield replaced only to have it crack again a week later.  The owner of the vehicle states that a windshield wiper was snapped onto the windshield causing the "new" crack.  The crack was not caused by a faulty windshield or poor workmanship but instead direct pressure of the snaping windshield wiper.  I assume, it may have been very cold and perhaps the action of snapping the wiper onto the window was too harsh.  It was expressed to the owner of the vehicle to be cautious with the new windshield, no car washes, no unnecessary stressors, avoid inclement weather, resting items against the glass etcetera.  I don't feel like we are responsible for repairing the windshield a second time, as proper prudence was not exercised by the owner of the vehicle.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The statements made by the business are incorrect.  I never stated a wiper hit the windshield.  My texts with the business are attached.  Their truck caused the original damage and the crack appeared after it sat in my garage for over a week, at the request of the place that replaced it originally.

The crack is certainly a testament to the replacement and nothing more as inspected by someone certified (not some ratchet company in a bad part of town).

Also, per the note from the company, it was never offered to me to get the glass replaced by the dealer that would have been my request.  They made zero accommodations.

    Regards,

    ***** *******
