I had a new furnace installed only to have a significant gas leak which was overlooked by the company because they did not send a gas detector along with the tech after I called about the issue. In addition, I was told by the owner that the paperwork for the necessary city inspection was being sent two weeks ago and it has not arrived and she is not returning my calls. In addition, she has been very unpleasant about my concerns about how safe this furnace is. I would like an additional check with a gas leak detector and an explanation of the warranty, which was never discussed with me. I don't want to be told that "this happens. I am only concerned for our safety. I was told by the owner to call her if I smell gas yet told by Joe to call Centerpointe. I did smell the 1st leak, but am not sure that I would smell another one, The furnace should have been checked for safety before the techs left and they should have the proper equipment to do so.

Cathy, The paperwork you are waiting on I am also waiting on from the City of Dayton to send me the permit information. I never said I had mailed it as I do not have all of the information needed to mail it to you. I have spoken to you many times regarding the situation with the gas leak and yes, unfortunately things do happen, but we did return and take care of the problem. I was never unpleasant, as a matter of fact as soon as you called I sent someone out there directly. If you would like an additional check simply call Joe at the office and he will set up the appointment and explain the warranty. Thank you, Malia ** *********

I was told during my call concerning the city inspection that you were putting that paperwork in the mail that day. Perhaps you meant you were putting it in the mail to the state or city but that wasn't made clear. I will call for an additional check if someone is going to bring a gas leak detector, which should have been done the 1st time I addressed the issue. This didn't happen until I still smelled it the day after that check when I called to say Centerpointe was at my house and had found the leak. I have told both you and Joe that I still wasn't feeling safe and there was never an offer to do a recheck. If a customer is repeatedly is saying they are feeling unsafe, make the offer. I shouldn't have to call repeatedly. The promised follow up check the week after installation wasn't made and I had to call the 2nd week after installation to arrange this when the gas leak issue was addressed for the 1st time. I would like to resolve this but feel like the company should reach out to me with my concerns,

I selected Barker a few years ago by comparing the cost of a furnace repair with a number of companies in the greater Dayton area. Barker was the best price, and Joe the Technician who was sent diagnosed and quickly repaired the furnace. Joe was also a furnace repair instructor who had taught classes. He went out of his way to help with the costs. I was very impressed with his efficiency and professionalism. Another fine Technician, Ray, had worked on my air conditioning system. He brought his own personal equipment to verify the efficiency of the system, and completely cleared out and rebuilt the outside unit with a new blower motor. The cleanout hadn’t been performed in many years. Ray also later repaired my furnace the following year, again with his own specialized measurement equipment. In every case, as with Joe, Ray made sure all work was completed in a very thorough and detailed manner. Ray and Joe also took the time to explain the work done in a detailed and knowledgeable way. Troubleshooting was performed meticulously and patiently until the problems were resolved. In every case all the Technician work was thorough and complete. Although pricing and labor costs have increased, Malia the President and Owner will work with the customer on payment. Overall, this is an excellent company with outstanding service, in existence for over 100 years.
