  I contracted Classic Exteriors to redo a botched job that another contractor completed to replace my front porch boards. The work Classic Exteriors did was okay. The porch is in better shape in terms of structural integrity and waterproofing. But the lack of attention to detail looks sloppy, like a warping board causing the corner boards to be out of alignment. One of the owners has brushed aside my feedback about the detail explaining that the boards will contract, causing gaps, but since they designed the configuration that they installed with the materials they recommended, I'd expect them to know enough not to create a border that will have a gap as the boards expand and contract throughout the day. The same owner also brushed aside my feedback about the boards being uneven explaining that the work they did was "exterior carpentry" as opposed to interior carpentry, but some of the boards simply aren't cut at right angles, giving the edge a snaggletooth appearance. That same owner of the company stopped by while my porch was ripped up to get me to pay an additional 10% to do some structural work, in spite of person who quoted the work having inspected the structure from my basement. I was fine paying whatever was due to make sure the porch was structurally sound, but having this conversation while my porch was ripped up and insulting the work of the person who quoted the job originally was poorly-timed and anxiety-inducing. I had high hopes for Classic Exteriors; their sales process was great. The person with whom I worked to estimate the job was compassionate and helpful, especially in the face of the stressful situation with the prior contractor who had botched the job. The owner told me, though, that I would have had to have paid double to get the attention to detail I expected. So next time I'll find a company that will provide me with a quote to do attractive, detailed work initially rather than assuming that I only want to pay for unattractive work.

  The owner did not say you would have to pay double to get the attention to detail you expected. What he said was to get every corner perfectly straight the entire frame of your porch would have needed to be replaced and a full tear out and rebuild like that would have costed double what you paid. You hired us to replace the top boards of your porch and to keep water from pouring into your basement, not to completely tear out and rebuild your porch. The boards can only be manipulated so much. If you plan to post this same review to every online media site (seeing as you posted the same review on google already), I can save you some time and give you a list of every site we have a profile on.

  In mid June, the President of the company committed to correcting some of the unsightly detail by the end of July. As I write this on September 15, that work still has not been completed. I also recently discovered that the porch leaks into my basement when it rains. The team from Classic Exteriors has come out twice to look at the porch, the second time trying to convince me that the leak was a "fluke". After it leaked a second time, they're going to put some effort into actually fixing the problem. They have committed to trying to resolve everything by September 23. I will update my review once they either have or haven't fulfilled their commitment.

  As of November 3 2023, I believe the project is finally complete. I didn't expect it to take almost six months and dozens of calls, emails, and texts, but I do appreciate that the Classic Exteriors team stuck with it to make sure that they held up their end of our agreement. After I discovered some unevenness in the slope of the porch (one of the primary issues I asked them to resolve initially), they came out to bolster the structure of the frame and provided me with both time and materials at no additional cost in spite of my offer to pay. In spite of some overall dissatisfaction I have with their communication and attention to detail, I can confidently say that the folks working with this company are good people who genuinely want to do right by their customers.

  Classic exteriors Did repair work on my house. They did a piss poor job. And kept calling the insurance company wanting more money, Because they kept saying things are wrong that the instruments do not see. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy

  I’m truly amazed at the level some people will go to get out of paying their bill even when it’s not them paying it. Keeping the insurance money and stiffing your contractor is insurance fraud. Let’s be honest and call it what it is. This was no repair. This started as a roof replacement where insurance company approved just barley enough to cover the costs. When we were done, you received a new roof, all new gutters, all new siding, new shutters, and a new garage door. You didn’t pay your deductible and when the insurance paid the last portion, you kept it and we had to hire a lawyer to get the money we had to fight for and you agreed to forward to us. We take pride in our work and would be more than happy to share the before and after pictures to anyone who cares to see them.
