I am about to back into Hondros after taking a leave of absence due to life/health issues.
One: my father in law passed in August of 2024 and
2: I have been helping to care for my mother in law since before then.
3: I have an autoimmune disorder that flares up in times of stress.
On 10/24/24 I emailed *** Bolsner and ******* **** about the schedule for the *** 5th term so that I could work out my work schedule with my manager. I was told that ******* would may have an idea of what it would look like but she was out of the office. Since I never heard from her I emailed ***** ********* the director of the program on 11/6. She gave me somewhat of a picture of what the term would look like. Once again I didnt hear from anyone until I emailed ******* **** about the re-entry process on November 20th. Once again I was told *** Bolsner was handling the process.
On November 21 I finally received an email from *** Bolsner stating that in order for me to return I have to pay $17, 000. She also included ***** ****** in her e-mail but he has not reached out yet. I let them know that this amount cannot be paid and that I have third party (Tuition Options) loan services.
On December 3rd *** Bolsner reached out saying that since the balance was so high she included **** ****** in her email.
As of today December 10 I have gotten better help. They are now asking I pay $10000 to return!??
I am getting very frustrated with the lack of communication with this business. Here it is less than 4 weeks from the start of the term and I have no answers except that I need to come up with $17,000. No one in their right mind has that kind of money just laying around! It is unjust and unfair of what they are asking me to pay!
The only reason I went back to Hondross for my RN is because they failed to tell me that my loans were out and I had to pay money to get my transcript send to other nursing programs.

To whom it may concern:
Hondros College of Nursing ("College") is in receipt of the complaint made by ******* **** on Thursday, December 19, 2024, and appreciates the opportunity to respond. The College takes all complaints seriously and is dedicated to student success and satisfaction.
Ms. **** writes that she is concerned about the amount of money that she owes to the College before she is allowed to register for the Winter 2025 term. Ms. **** states that she was told that she owes $17,000, and that she had to clear her balance in order to register for classes. After some additional communication, she was further told that she would require to pay $10,000 in order to register.
Page 90 of the Hondros College of Nursing Student Catalog, under the "Registration Information" section, states "Students who have an outstanding balance or have not submitted all required documentation will not be able to register for upcoming quarters." As such, Ms. **** is required to settle her balance with the College before being allowed to register for the Winter 2025 term. However, as the College recognizes that the balance is quite large, the College is willing to reduce the amount owed for registration to $10,000, with the remainder to be paid later.
The College, therefore, is acting in accordance with its published policies. Further, this action is common practice at Colleges and Universities nationally.
Ms. **** may review her ledger in her Student Portal at any time. We encourage her to contact the campus for additional questions regarding her balance.
Sincerely,
**** *******

I attended Hondros College of Nursing from June 2023 up until October 14th 2024. I was denied direct entry for the *** program even though I met the requirements. Their reasoning was because I failed a nursing class at another school. However I did not fail for academic reasons. I had to repeat clinical.
I was highly upset because that would cost me more money to attend both programs. This wasn't stated anywhere in the handbook that stated you could not attend if you failed a nursing class at another school. The only requirements were for you to meet a certain GPA and credits. I had both requirements.
I requested to speak with someone and was denied. I was very disappointed, but I signed up for the *** program. I went straight through the *** program health issues and all. The school suggested me and other classmates to go through the *** program right recieve a discount for being an alumni student.
Furthermore, I met with someone to discuss the *** program and registered. Fast forward into 2 weeks of being into Term 2 of the *** program. The director emails me and tells me I am being withdrawn from the program for not having my LPN license yet. However none of this information was told to me beforehand or before even attending classes.
I also had problems with even registering to take my *****. I have been enrolled to take my ***** for next Friday October 25th. Which has been scheduled for over 30 days prior to me receiving an email about being unenrolled.
I was NEVER provided this in writing or where I could find this in the handbook. I asked them to explain how direct entry students can attend the program without a license but I can't. Even though I am actively working towards one.
This school is money hungry! They waited to until they received my money before they decided to withdraw me from the college and NOT for academic reasoning.
I should be allowed to continue to attend school while apply for my license.
Do NOT attend **********************!!!!

Hondros College of Nursing takes all complaints from current and former students seriously, and appreciates the opportunity to respond to Ms. ********************** Ms. ***** believes that her denial from the Associate Degree in Nursing (***) program through the Direct Entry Option was unfair. The criteria for this admissions track, as published in the Student Catalog, states, "An unofficial transcript is required from each previous post-secondary institution attended. The applicant must have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.50, or higher, from each prior college experience. Applicants that have not achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 may request an appeal with the Campus Executive Director. The Campus Executive Director will notify the applicant of the appeal decision in writing. Official transcripts will be required from institutions where courses are being applied towards the Advanced Standing credits. Applicants with an earned bachelors degree do not have a cumulative GPA requirement."
Ms. ***** did not meet this requirement. She made an appeal, but her appeal was denied. Admission to the program is not guaranteed. Ms. ***** did qualify for the Practical Nursing program, which she decided freely to attend. The College acted in accordance with its published policy.
2. Ms. ***** entered the *** program through the Practical Nursing Program Completers Option. The criteria for this admissions track states, "Hondros College of Nursing's Practical Nursing program graduates applying to start the Associate Degree in Nursing Program the quarter immediately following their PN graduation may be admitted to the program prior to possessing an active unencumbered PN license, but must obtain, and maintain throughout the duration of the program, an active, unencumbered PN license prior to the start of their second quarter of enrollment in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program. Failure to obtain an active, unencumbered PN license prior to the start of the second quarter of enrollment in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program, or to maintain the license
throughout the duration of the program, will result in being administratively withdrawn from the College."
Unfortunately, Ms. ***** did not become licensed prior to the second term of her enrollment, and was withdrawn according to the College's policy. Ms. ***** states, "I was NEVER provided this in writing or where I could find this in the handbook"; however, the above criterion is published on page 21 of the Student Catalog.
Ms. ***** also states that "They waited to until they received my money before they decided to withdraw me from the college and NOT for academic reasoning." However, after reviewing Ms. ******* ledger, it appears she was refunded for the courses from which she was withdrawn.
Ms. ***** may apply for re-entry into the program for the Winter 2025 term after earning her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.Initial Complaint

To whom it may concern:
Hondros College of Nursing considers a number of different criteria when determining whether or not to accept an applicant, as established in the Student Catalog. Further, the College is under no obligation to admit any applicant.
The College considers an applicant's background check when making an admissions determination. The College generally looks unfavorably on applicants with open cases, unpaid court costs, or who have a history of assault, drug abuse, fraud, sexual offenses, or theft/robbery. The College must take this history into account as the Board of Nursing will also review an applcant's background to determine if they are eligible to be licensed.
There are a variety of factors that result in an admissions decision, and again, the College is under no obligation to admit any applicant.
Sincerely,

I had originally signed up to start fall term of their RN program around the end of August.
Shortly after signing up, I found out I was expecting my first child. I dropped the program, and was told that as long as I return any items I have (uniform and books), I would not be charged. I returned BOTH at the same time, still fully in packaging.
Charges were dropped for my textbooks, but never for my uniform. They are charging me $217.15 for a uniform that was returned and never opened. I've sent multiple emails, without any updates or response. Their sole argument is that I "must have returned it opened".
To be completely honest, this specific location has had numerous issues and lawyers from students contacting them due to financial aid mistakes and the misuse of student funds.
I find it unprofessional that they are blaming me for a mistake that they made, and won't rectify it. There is absolutely no reason for me to return my books but not my uniform. There is no reason for me to lie about it, either. $217 is pocket change, however I do not find it fair or right that I should be forced to pay for items I know I returned, because of a mistake that they've made.

To whom it may concern:
Hondros College of Nursing reviewed the complaint by Ms. *********, and disagrees with her claim. Therefore, the College will not refund Ms. ********* the money she requested.
First, Ms. ********* claims "...this specific location has had numerous issues and lawyers from students contacting them due to financial aid mistakes and the misuse of student funds." Alleging financial aid mistakes and misuse of student funds is a strong and serious claim, and Ms. ********* makes it with no evidence. The College does not have issues with financial aid and the use of student funds, and there is no related legal action being taken against the College.
Second, Ms. ********* does not present any proof that she returned her uniform. If Ms. ********* returned both her textbook and uniform at the same time, the College would have processed them at the same time, per its process. The College documents all returns in CAMS, it's electronic student information system, and while there is documentation of the return of the textbook in the system, there is no documentation of the return of the uniform. Further, Ms. ********* does not have a receipt proving her claim that the uniform was returned.
Third, in researching Ms. *********'s claim, we contacted our supplier, to whom we would have returned the uniform. They did not process the return, either.
Finally, Ms. ********* claims that the College was uncommunicative during this process, but the College communicated with her more than once about the status of her uniform.
As a result, the College will not refund Ms. ********* for her uniform.
Sincerely,
**** *******

all this organization does to its students (who literally pay thousands of dollars just to get treated like this) is lie and sneak around. Of course you disagree with my complaint, because that would involve you all admitting a mistake was made. I can promise you, I will never be returning for my RN due to complete negligence and abuse of student funds.

I received a bill in the amount of $3,714.55 with no explanation of what the charges were for. I attended the required orientation and ONE day of class and had to withdraw for personal medical reasons. The Dean at the time, ***** ******** agreed I should withdraw due to the medical issue. This type of billing practice is unacceptable and needs to be investigated.Business Response

I used financial aid, student loans, and some out of pocket to attend this institution. The entire time this place scammed me and other students out of money. The quality of education received was unacceptable. All this school cares about is money and not your well being as a student or human being. I spent almost two years here as a Nursing Student. I got all the way to the end of my program (which they make extremely hard to do because the more you fail, the more money they get.) and like most nursing schools they had an exit exam. Most schools in the Columbus area require an 800 or 850 to pass as is suggested by the actual HESI. Hondros requires a 900 because it guarantees a passing NCLEX score which is how they keep their accreditation because their grad rate is so low. I am a person who suffers from test anxiety, and even though I got very close, I was not able to pass this test upon taking it 4 times. 2 times one semester and another 2 times an additional semester I was charged extra for. Instead of this school allowing me to just take the exam portion I was charged and forced to take the class over even though I passed the actual class with an A. The fourth time I took the exam was in June, the beginning of summer when the Columbus area experienced widespread power outages. The school was not exempt from this outage and one of them happened to occur mid exit exam. Instead of them rescheduling the exam, they forced us to continue taking the exam with no lights, no air, and no internet. We were told to use the Wifi on our phones. Imagine taking a test in those conditions along with test anxiety. It was a nightmare. Upon failing the 4th time, I was academically dismissed and told to apply for reinstatement. Everyone I know who was in my situation before, was granted reinstatement. When I apply they nastily reject me and now I have spent thousands of dollars here and I have to start completely over from scratch. I need reparations of some sort for the trouble.Business Response

Hondros College of Nursing appreciates the opportunity to respond to this complaint. The College takes all such concerns very seriously and reviewed this Ms. ******* complaint carefully. While Ms. ***** shares a number of grievances with her experience at the College, the College was not unfair or deceptive in its treatment of Ms. *****.
The NUR 190 course in the last term of the Practical Nursing program requires that students must achieve a score of 900 or better on the HESI Comprehensive Examination on one of two attempts. Students who do not meet this requirement do not pass the course and must re-take the class. Because the HESI Comprehensive Examination is a course requirement, students who do not meet the course requirement must re-take the entire course in the following quarter. This requirement is stated clearly in the NUR 190 course syllabus and discussed with students from the beginning of the program. Over the course of many years, the College has found that if a student scores below 900 multiple times, they are not yet ready to take the NCLEX®-PN Examination and earn licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. The College cannot speak to the requirements at other institutions and is not beholden to them.
Students who fail the same course twice are academically dismissed from the program. This policy is stated in the Student Catalog, on page 67: “Students are only permitted to repeat a failed course once. If the student is unsuccessful in the course on the second and final attempt, the student shall be academically dismissed from the College.” Students who fail the same course twice may request reinstatement to the College and must provide documentation to verify an extenuating circumstance that prevented the student from being successful.
Finally, Ms. ***** discussed a power outage that impacted her fourth attempt on the HESI Comprehensive Examination. While there was an outage, the exam was able to continue with minimal interruption. The room was well lit and WiFi access was available throughout the test.
The College never wants a student to be dissatisfied; however, we must uphold our policies and ensure that all students are treated equally. Hondros College of Nursing cares deeply about the success of its students and has a vested interest in the success of every individual who enrolls in our programs.

The statements made are false and does not give a response as to why I was not granted reinstatement and claims that the room was well lit and wifi access was available. That is not true I used the hotspot on my phone and the school had no generators so the hallways and rooms were dark as well as there was no air conditioning. Furthermore we were kicked out of the test during the exam obviously because there was no wifi and we had to figure out next steps which again as I stated earlier resulted in me using my hotspot. Unacceptable to lie about something like that. Everyone knows wifi is not available if there is no power. I can gather witnesses that can attest to my statement if necessary. If this institution will continue to lie I will be getting an education attorney because I wasted time and money here. What documentation could you provide for not being able to pass a test? They don’t give out doctors notes for that. I completed the actual class with an A average so there is nothing wrong with me some people suffer from test anxiety and that’s that. Again, Completely ridiculous and unacceptable.

I attended Hondros College Nursing in 2022. I started my first semester with Hondros College and unfortunately had to take a leave of absence, due to a heart attack. During this time period, of my first semester, I paid a monthly amount to the college in addition to my grants and loans for my coursework. I was caught up and consistent with my payments. During my leave of absence, I received correspondence from the school that I would have to return the following semester in order to be active as a student. I was told that I would have to restart the semester but would not be charged for the first attempt. Due to issues with their financial aide department the student portal would continue to show me as still in the previous semester which was already over. I emailed financial aide multiple times in order to get this resolved and was assured it would be, without my being charged for two semesters. About a month into the term, I began receiving emails that I was late on the monthly payments required for my attendance. At first when I contacted the school regarding this, I was told they still hadn't updated the system. Then the emails became more threatening telling me if my payments hadn't been caught up I could not continue my attendance. I was continuing to call and email the school wanting to get this resolved. I wasn't behind in payments. Toward the second month of being back, I had made the equivalent of 5 1/2 months payments despite the fact I was told that I was being charged for one semester. I was told be the school that these payments would mean that I would pay off the balance quicker, but I had to make 6 months worth of out of pocket payments to continue into the second semester. Now they are claiming that I still owe them close to $2000. I have requested a complete break down of these charges. Which I have not received. I have however received a threat to send me to collections. I do not believe that I owe Hondros College.Business Response

Hondros College of Nursing appreciates the opportunity to respond to student complaints. Regarding Ms. ****** *******, the College performed an internal investigation and found that it acted in accordance with its policies. Rather, Ms. ******* misunderstands how the payment plan is calculated.
Ms. *******'s ledger does show that she was charged for the courses in question in Summer 2021 and Fall 2021; however, the ledger also shows a credit for the course charge from Summer 2021. Further, while Ms. ******* is correct that she made monthly payments throughout the Summer 2021 term, the payment plan recalculates as necessary in order to ensure that students who make regular payments have a $0 balance by graduation. When Ms. *******'s enrollment status changed, her payment plan recalculated. The adjusted payment plan splits the cost of the program over the anticipated number of terms remaining in the program. Ms. ******* was not charged for the same term twice. Further, upon withdrawing from the College, Ms. ******* received a statement indicating the total balance due based on the courses taken, which is a total amount that differs from the regular monthly payment.
The College has emailed Ms. ******* multiple times with explanations of the payment plan, and the Director of Finance has offered to discuss the plan further with the student directly via phone. Ms. ******* has responded to this offer, but it continues to stand.
