On November 3, 2024, two movers from Movers and More came to move my belongings from my apartment to a storage unit. I had paid $125 deposit when I called to schedule the move. The deposit was to be deducted from the total cost after everything was loaded. I was told it would cost me $475 for two men for two hours. I had everything ready to go when they arrived. I was charged an additional hour because it took them over 30 minutes to get my couch through the door which took them over the two hours. I eventually had to ask the neighbor across the hall if she would open her door so that they could take one end into her apartment and maneuver the couch. The furniture company that delivered the couch had none of these issues. During the course of these movers trying to get the couch out of the door, they flipped the couch upside down. The top of the couch came in contact with the floor and left a **** **** from the dirty floor. My couch is off white. It will have to be professionally cleaned. They also got blue paint from the door on the arm of the couch. The movers wrapped the back of the couch only after I pointed out the damage. I contacted *****, explained what happened and sent him pictures of the damage. He said he would speak with the movers and call me back. He has made no attempt to rectify the situation and my efforts to reach him have been ignored.

On May 13th I contracted Movers and More LLC to move my furniture from my apartment in ******** to ******** at my new location. They estimated $825 for 4 hours and if it took longer I would pay $125 per hour extra, I agreed. I asked if he had insurance and he told me yes, and also said he was a member of the BBB. In addition I asked if they would hook up the washer/***** he said yes. That was very important because I did not know how to do it and other companies I called said they would not provide that service. The Day of my move went well they were on time and efficient. My issue with them was damage to my washer which I used the morning of the move so I knew it was working fine as usual. I went to wash a load and noticed the door was slightly hanging and would not close. I have a front loader so it has to close in order to start a wash. I called the mover and he said he was on his way to ********** to do a move and he would call when he returned. He never called and never returned my calls. I had to go to a laundry mat because weeks had passed with no resolve. I then assumed he has no insurance or did not want to take responsibility for the the damage. I am not asking them for complete replacement, I was hoping to get the door repaired or replaced but they never responded.

We notice the washer wasnt closing when we was moving it. But we was able to close it and put plastic wrap around it to keep it closed. The washer was very old and Im sure this damage already existed. But I did tell her I would help her repair it so I will contact her and arrange to get it repaired. It a busy season and I totally forgot.

[If you do not say why you are rejecting the company's response, BBB must close your complaint.]

    Complaint: 21955998

I am rejecting this response because: The very first sentence in the Business response is false! When the movers started to unhook the washer and dryer I informed them that I had just washed my last load of clothes. I would not have done so if there was a problem with the washer. The washer was not brand new but it was working never had a problem with it. I watched the move take the all the pieces that I considered delicate. So I watched how they strapped the washer with straps over the front door...I have a front loader the door is not flat it's rounded. It is my understanding that when they strapped the washer door those straps actually caused the damage. If they had strapped it on the sides no damage would occur. There was no damage to the Dryer because the dryer does not have a rounded front door. In response to the movers being busy that is not a valid excuse, there is no excuse for the fact that they NEVER contacted me, they did not respond to my text or repeated calls. I moved on May 13th, today is July 22. I am not asking for a replacement of my washer...simply because it was not brand new but it was working without issues. My washer was a ***** Kenmoore model. I am asking for a monetary amount to cover this incident. $200 would be reasonable for the headache caused and time without a washer. The door replacement would not be justifiable for me to do due to the age of the washer. So I had to buy a new one. which I did not not plan to buy. $875
