The only reason I'm giving 1 star is because it's not possible to give zero. I've done all the billing and insurance related business for my household for years, and I can say unequivocally that Beam is the worst insurance provider anyone in my family has ever had. My partner's employer gave him two options for dental coverage: Beam or nothing. I almost wish he'd chosen the latter! Every insurance company is evil in the sense that their highest priority is hunting down any possible reason to deny patient claims, but Beam takes it to another level. They nitpick every single claim and, even when the provider does everything PERFECTLY, they'll claim to not have received some of the necessary documentation. For example, they'll often deny claims because X-Rays weren't provided, when X-Rays WERE provided from the start, and were resubmitted multiple times in response to the denial. My partner's main dental provider is incredibly organized and studious in all their operations, they're in-network, and they're still going back and forth with Beam about a claim over a year old. They've provided the requested materials numerous times but they just get the runaround every time they reach out about it. Every other dental provider we've visited has remarked that Beam is the worst insurance provider they've ever encountered too. It takes a LOT to stand out as exceptionally bad in the insurance industry—but Beam manages to do just that. It's like they actively hate all of their patients and in-network providers. Beyond awful!

We have Beam through my husbands employer. My daughter is also covered under the same policy. We go to the dentist on the same day for our 6 month cleanings. They paid for mine but not my daughters. It took 3-4 of constantly calling to FINALLY get them to pay! They kept stating they hadn't received the claim! That's funny because my dentist, who I've been going to for 30+ years, gave me all the dates, times and how they submitted! Who am I going to believe??? And now about to go through the same thing again! NEVER had this problem with previous dental provider!!!!!

Avoid them at all costs. Beam Dental will use any opportunity to lie or mislead you about what they cover and deny coverage/claims/procedures. X-rays covered 100%? Oh no, we only cover certain types of X-rays, and we don't tell you which ones until the claim comes in. Tooth cracked and need a crown? Denied. My dentist had to file appeals for the claim for 8 months before they finally approved it. Dealing with Beam is nonstop absurd refusals to do the bare minimum.

If you like fighting your insurance provider to cover a procedure they claim to cover in thier policy, than this is the insurance provider for you. If you enjoy harrasing your dentist office to go back and forth with the insurance provider to prove why the procedure was necessary, only to be told by the insurance company that more evidence is needed...you will love Beam. If you enjoy the irrtation of going through getting a crown (which is supposed to be covered by your insurance) then coming out of pocket the full cost because your insurance's team of of supposed dentists at a desk said it wasn't medically necessary, Beam is right for you. I spent over seven months trying to be reimbursed for ruffly $500 over a crown that I needed. The full procedure was a little over $1,100. Beam sent me through so many hoops that after 7 months I gave up. But I will say, when my company continued dental services with them, I declined and went with a different company. You see, based off Beams record it was cheaper for me to pay full price than use the provider through the company I work for. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company. From personal experience, they are a scam when you need actual work done.

Beam Dental has on several occasions had a process failure during their claims process. I have also had a pre-approved procedure denied when the dental office submitted the claim. The most recent issues were related to claims that were stalled in their system. So far, I've had to make 4 calls over the course of a month to get to their representatives to hopefully fix the problem. Currently it is still unresolved. Many people have FSA accounts that require EOBs to process the reimbursement claim. To have to wait over a month for a claim to start processing can not be considered good service. My take is that the people receiving the claims and the claims department do not monitor or follow-up on issues so when something occurs one **** does not inform the other **** and the issue sits in their system stalled until the customer calls in to find out whats happening. The other issue was big financially. I had a dental procedure sent in to Beam for a preauthorization. Beam authorized the procedure only to deny it when the claim was submitted by the dentist. I had to be put on a payment plan which was a financial hardship for my family that should not have occurred. I will look into taking them to small claims court regarding this issue.
