    We gave Don G****** of Garrett Custom Carpentry a deposit of $1,740 on 5/11/2023 towards the construction of a custom built fireplace surround with 2 base cabinets and shelves. He said he would order the materials, which would take about 2 weeks. On 5/23 Don sent a text that he had received the materials, would start working on the project at his home on 5/24 and then come to our house on 5/30 to install & complete the project. On 5/29 he texted that he wasn’t coming on 5/30 but would come on 6/1 instead. He came on 6/1 but only measured and drew pencil lines on the wall and said he would be back on 6/5. Don didn’t show up on 6/5 or call or notify us he wasn’t coming. After I texted him he finally responded & said he would be coming on 6/8. We texted him on 6/7 to confirm he would be here on 6/8 & he said he needed more time & he would come on 6/9. He didn’t show up on 6/9 and once again no call or text. He finally responded to my text, said he was sick and would come on 6/12. Don finally came on 6/12, installed one partially completed pre-built cabinet with no doors, and said he would be back the next day. On 6/13 Don sent a text at 8:55am that he would be at our house in 15 min. At 10:40am he hadn’t arrived yet & after I texted him, said he was going to ****’s then would be at to our house. He never came so I texted him again. He finally texted back at 3:00pm saying he was sick and couldn’t come. He said he couldn’t come until 6/15 now because he had to get new brakes on his truck but he guaranteed he would come 6/15 & 6/16. He came on 6/15, calked around the partially finished cabinet he had already attached to the wall, cut a few pieces of shelving but didn’t install them. He said he wanted to paint them at his shop so he would be back the next day on 6/16 and install and finish the cabinets & shelving on both sides of the fireplace. When he didn’t come on 6/16 we tried to call but no answer so I texted him on 6/19 that we wanted our deposit returned to us.

    We signed a contract with Don G***** 2/16 and provided the 2k deposit. As of 5/13/2022 he has not started the work in our home, provided pictures that are recognizable as our job taking place at our shop or followed through on the refund he promised. Working with Don was a nightmare as he routinely doesn’t show up to appointments and cannot seem to keep his word. Garrett Custom Cabinets is giving small business a bad name not to mention we are out 2k.

    Garrett Custom Carpentry Estimate on 3/12 He emailed on 3/15 that he was missing the measurements he had taken. Sent invoice/estimate on 3/16 Sent ½ payment of $1425.00 on 3/16 3/27 he emailed with start date of 5/2 Called 5/2 at 0836 answer, no talking Called 5/2 at 0838 and left a vmail I was very understanding Emailed 5/2 at 1541 asking for a new start date. No response Called 5/3 at 1014 asking for new start date I was still understanding Called 5/3 1837 on wife’s phone. He answered. Stated thought start date was week of 5/9. Said he was finishing a job on 5/4 and would then start on ours. Agreed on installation date of 5/10 at 0900. Seemed unsure of dates/weeks Called 5/10 at 1004 no answer. Left a voicemail, no response.
