I had my car checked out by Lukes recently before an 8-hour road trip out to the East Coast. They came back and diagnosed some serious issues with my brakes and had me fixed up in a matter of 2 days. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, Pennsylvania I noticed a slight dink/clunk noise from my front wheel. My head went to bad places for a split second, but I passed it off as just a rock. Again, on my way back I heard the same noise accompanied by some slight metal-on-metal banging and bumping noises. When I got home my brake pads were out of alignment and 3 of 4 main caliper bolts were missing leaving my brakes just hanging. These are large 12mm bolts crucial for holding your brakes together and making them operate properly. Without these bolts your brake pads can fall off. As you can imagine, this situation could have had severe consequences, especially with my family onboard. While I understand that we’re all human and that mistakes can happen. But when working on brakes, tightening caliper bolts is not something you just miss. An issue that can cause you to lose your brakes is more than a simple oversight, it can rise to levels of outright neglect. I returned to Lukes the day after returning from my trip and as much as I wanted to cause a scene, I kept my cool explaining the issue to my Service Advisor. He apologized and took my car back to make the necessary repairs but it pretty much stops there. I was told the Service Manager would be in touch Monday when he returned from vacation. It’s now weeks later and not a peep from anyone. I came to Luke because of the rave reviews everyone in the neighborhood gave them. I will make certain to share this review with the neighborhood as well and caution people about using Lukes going forward. Their lack of not just details but critical safety components is a red flag. Their lack of following up with the customer after an incident like this is an even larger red flag. I will NOT be a returning customer.
