  • Customer Complaint:
    We opened a file on September 20, 2010, when an Ohio resident said she received a phone call on Friday, September 17, 2010 threatening legal action and imprisonment concerning a $300 debt she knew nothing about. The nature of the threat was personal and vicious in nature. The company had a surprising amount of information when they called. The company specifically asked for her social security number. When asked, the company refused to provide any information about themselves or the company for whom they said they were collecting. They also failed to provide substantiation or to explain any additional charges that may have been assessed. Since then, we have heard from people from Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington DC who have received similar nasty phone calls at home and at work. Many of these people say the caller said they owed money for a cash advance that hadn't been paid back. But after checking with their payday lenders, they were told nothing was owed. BBB estimates the amount of money requested to be at least $5,500. Our office called 804-926-6733 and the phone was answered by a woman who said, "We're not at home", and hung up.
