    I rented a storage unit for my personal belongings while I’ve been looking for a new residence. At the time of signing up, I was told that I needed renters insurance for my storage unit… I was informed that the storage unit came with renters insurance for an additional fee each month. Upon entering the storage unit, I received introductory information regarding the insurance, but nothing case, specific or detail to my person. Back in January 2023, there was a flood that was caused by damaged pipes in the storage unit. Not only was 95% of my belongings damaged within the unit, I didn’t have access to the unit, per the request of the storage unit, for at least another two weeks to a month, which prevented me from salvaging anything. I was given the insurance companies information from the previous manager of the storage unit… Unfortunately, it has been more than a year and a half and I still haven’t received my claim, but the reason for my complaint is that as I explained previously, I never received any insurance information from the company, nor the storage rental place… And out of the thousands of dollars of damage has happened to my belongings, they are only trying to satisfy $2000 of damage without any type of policy, paperwork, or anything detailing that amount, as well as the fact that I was told to cancel my other insurance due to, if anything happens, they would not double pay for a claim, and after speaking to the newly appointed claims adjuster and new manager of the rental storage… I was told that I could double Claim , and now I have an issue

    IncaAztec Storage experienced a pipe burst on January 19, 2023, causing 14 inches of water to run across the entire facility. They informed tenants with an email on Jan. 20 with NO FURTHER COMMUNICATION, as the initial letter stated they would let us know when we could get in to retrieve our belongings. That never happened. Now, what's not water damaged, is damaged by mold. I want to know 1.) are they responsible because it's THEIR building, THEIR pipes? My insurance does not cover this type of water damage, shockingly. 2.) their egregious negligence to keep tenants informed has caused FURTHER damage due to mold and I want to be compensated by them. I am a teacher working in China and have friends showing up to find an 3.) UNLOCKED facility. A secure facility was promised in the contract. I want to understand what I can do legally to be compensated for my damages. Thank you, very much and I prefer to communicate via email, the one listed, rather than phone. That number is my son's.
