I am writing this because my 4th grade son has been a student at TCP WORLD ACADEMY SCHOOL SINCE 2018. He does have mental health condition where he sees a child focus therapist and that therapist has treated my son Since 2018 and the therapist has provided mental diagnosis and treatment plan, with a letter to TCP WORLD ACADEMY every school year. See attached documents. My son also has several medical conditions, that the doctors at children's hospital has provided letters about the conditions to TCP WORLD ACADEMY, and I have provided copies to the teachers every school year. See attached medical letters. The principal Ms. F***** has made accommodations for my son this 4th grade school year by allowing my son to keep the laptop the students had at home when the pandemic had the school's shut down to in-person learning. He is able to st** home virtual when his medical conditions are flared up, and he can come in person to school when they are not. This school year Dr. R** is my son's teacher and she is very rude and disrespectful to me regarding my needs and concerns about my son's medical and education. See attachment. Dr. R** is not considering my son's medical conditions, nor is she accommodating my son either. She grades him on the same scale as the other students, she also doesn't allow my son to finish the same d** assignments when he gets to school late in the morning, He is late due to issues at home in the morning due to his medical. Dr. R** stated she will "Mark my son's work as incomplete" even though he is in the process of completing it. Dr. R** is causing my son's medical conditions to become greater, she has him under duress, and she refused to let my son call me to tell me about Dr. R**** treatment towards him..she "threaten to send my son to another class" if he called me on his cellphone that I told my son to call me on at all times! This was the last straw tod** and the principal has been made aware of these issues but never fixes them.

    1 E. 4th St. Suite 600
    Cincinnati, **** 45202
    Dear *** *******,
I just received your letter regarding a complaint from one of the parents ***** ******, concerning her son ****** ******-******** educational and medical needs. I am sending you ******** State English Language and Math Achievement Tests from last year. As you can see, he scored higher than most 3rd grade students in the state of ****, using the same assessment scale. *** ****** often schedules ******** educational needs around her own needs. She has expressed that she is a student herself and cannot alw**s being him to school for his live instruction. We've accommodated her by providing ****** with a laptop computer for home and Dr. D** and Mr. T**** instruct him with the other students, via ****** **** and ****** *********, while he is at home and the rest of the students are in the classroom.

Dr. R** has gone over and above standard expectations on requirements by providing ****** with the homework and daily work at the beginning of the week for him to work on at his convenience at home. It is not unreasonable for her to expect him, when he comes to the brick and mortar classroom, to come prepared to join the class instructional program, rather than for him to come and physically sit in the classroom to complete homework or work others have completed, work that he had at home ahead of time.

I've kept up with texts between *** ****** and Dr. R**. She at one time was texting Dr. R** regularly while Dr. R** was either teaching or preparing to teach her two classes, almost as if ****** is Dr. R**** ONLY student. It became overbearing and out of order for *** ****** to regularly dictate to Dr. R**, a trained, licensed, and experienced teacher, how to run her class or what to challenge her son to do. I encourage my teachers to teach students on level or a level above, never water instruction down with low expectations for students who are in fact very capable.

It is not appropriate for a student to refuse to follow a teacher's instructions, and, instead, pick up his phone and call his mother to usurp the teacher's authority, particularly in front of other students who are following instructions.

If ****** has been given given extra time and work ahead of time and he simply chooses to do things in his own time, he should receive an 'incomplete'. We are trying to prepare our students for the real world with acceptable work ethics.

The medical concerns we have on file are headaches, of which he has experienced few at school, and hypermobility disability, neither which has affected his learning, although he can't receive a handwriting award or an 'A' grade in penmanship. Additionally, he suffers from anxiety, which apparently he suffers mostly at home, rather than at school.
*** ****** over-indulges ****** and seems to have lower expectations of him than any of our teachers do. He has regularly been a high achiever at T.C.P. World Academy, even before joining Dr. R**** class, and this is borne out by his exceedingly high achievement scores on the **** State Tests. ****** has neve expressed any concerns to me, and I visit his class often.
Finally, for a long time, I was trying to address all of *** ******** numerous emails to me before it became clear to me that these emails were going to demand far too much of my time, to the detriment of the accomplishment of my regular duties as principal of the school, and with no apparent expectation that any of my efforts would satisfy *** ******. It became impracticable, even highly onerous, to have to deal with *** ******** constant communications, particularly in light of their unreasonable nature. She and I had a long communication a few months ago and she agreed that she would trust Dr. R** and the school to do what we are trained and dedicated to do. However, she then redirected toward Dr. R** her focus on near-constant, unreasonable complaints and directives. It is my considered opinion, based on a clear understanding of the situation and on my long experience as an educator and as a school principal, that *** ******** complaints are without merit.
The d** she wrote her complaint to you is the same d** she came to the school and disrupted Dr. R**** class, and much of the rest of the school, after she ignored school policy pertaining to school safety relating particularly to the safety of students and staff. *** ****** had to be escorted out of the classroom. She and Dr. R** spoke the next d**, on Saturd**, and she apologized to Dr. R**. As far as I know, everything has been better since that d**.

    Sincerely,

    Karen Y. F*****

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

    Regards,

    ***** ******

I have read these responses from Ms. F*****, Dr. R**, and additional parties, and these responses are far from the truth, and seems to be doctrined, and missing the truth, and not speaking to the matter at hand. I am alw**s going to listen to my son, support, and stand by my son's side no matter what, because his needs are my number one priority. ******' heen at TCP for 4 years, and we have never had any problems that couldn't be heard or worked out until he stepped into Dr. R**** 4th grade classroom, against my better judgment because of what I witnessed from Dr. R**** class, when my son was in the classroom next to Dr. R**, Miss Darling for 1st grade. I shared this with Ms. F***** ahead of ******' starting 4th grade in Dr. R**** class, and I have shared this with Dr. R** before. I went ahead and allowed ******' to be in Dr. R**** class because of what Ms. F***** promised me would look after ******' while he was in Dr. R**** class, and unfortunately that wasn't consistent. When ******' first entered Dr. R**** classroom at the beginning of the year, Dr. R**, Mr. T****, and the TA at the time Mr. W******** was not prepared for the virtual accommodations, and that caused a lot of confusion as far as ******' being in the virtual meetings by himself, no teacher present, missing assignments that were not loaded online for ******' to complete to st** caught up, and I had to call the office and speak to ask Mrs. H********, Ms. L****, to please ask the teachers to log into the virtual meeting with ******', I even texted Ms. F***** regarding the issues with the teachers not being in the virtual meetings with ******' (SEE SOME TEXTS COMMUNICATIONS).  ******' has never missed the mark in his learning, grades, or test scores while at home virtual despite his teachers not alw**s being logged into the virtual meetings, not alw**s presenting, or having all ******** assignments posted online. His **** state test scores that Ms. F***** is referring to for ******' was taken in 3rd grade under a different teacher Miss Darling whom ******' had for 1st grade, 2nd grade (COVID VIRTUAL ONLY), and 3rd grade, I have yet to see what this year's **** State test scores will reflect for 4th grade under the direction of his new teachers, and the extra anxiety that he has been experiencing this school year.

I will not allow Dr. R** to accuse my son of cheating, because that is NOT what happened, my son doesn't need to cheat and has never cheated. This incident is why I reached out to the  BBB because it was the last STRAW, and I needed to be heared, since Ms. F***** doesn't reach out the w** she should, and at this point I have lost trust in TCP.

K' Raee' told me that his classmates  Hanania,  scooted his daily language onto ******''s desk to help ******' get done with his daily language since ******' was late and ******' said he told Hanaia to "Take his paper back, He doesn't need it", and that's when Dr. R** walked over to where they both were sitting. ******' got upset because Dr. R** accused ******' of cheating without even listening to what ******' had to s**, so that is when ******' took out his phone to call me like he I TOLD MY SON TO DO, and then Dr. R** threatened ******' and told him "IF he calls his mother, she will send him to  another teachers classroom who I never met", that was supposed to be some sort of scare tactic!. Then ******' attempted to call me from the office and Dr. R** first sent another student up to the office to get ******' and then Dr. R** came up to the office and blocked ******' again from calling me. Those actions were totally UNACCEPTABLE! . My son was very disturbed and traumatized by what Dr. R** did and the position she put ******' in. These actions are  UNACCEPTABLE especially with these school shootings happening to our kids DAILY, and my son will CONTINUE TO HAVE A CELLPHONE AND CALL ME NO MATTER WHAT!! TCP made me and ******' feel completely unsafe and stressed by doing that to ******' , and the school shootings that happened recently has made it even more clear that parents have to st** close to their kids despite old policies or teachers personal feelings or issues.

I had initially spoke to Mr. J** the assistant principal about what Dr. R** did about accusing ******' of cheating and Mr. J** had told me he would handle it, but Mr. J** NEVER spoke to Dr. R** because he fears Dr. R**, and since Mr. J**  didn't speak to Dr. R**, that is how this escalated to me confronting Dr . R**.

I apologized for displ**ing my anger in front of anyone else who was there when I confronted Dr. R**, but I DO NOT APOLOGIZE for what I said. ******' is my son and I will not let anyone bully, or accuse my son of cheating or stop him from trying to get ahold of me, I AM HIS MOTHER. At this point  we are safely trying to get through these final weeks of 4th grade. I know the job that I do with ******' academically when ******' is home virtual and in person, at TCP, I have too many emails, texts, of all ******** work, tests, that I send into his teachers that I am not going to include in this letter, but they all know, and I just want my son to be treated fair, and remain safe while at TCP the rest of this school year.
