Mr. Carter purchased Profilogical and began managing it on November 1, 2015, after the passing of the previous owner, Mr. Carl Newlen in October 2015.
Customer Complaint
Profilogical is a Data Broker. Data Brokers come in three general types; marketing products, risk mitigation and people search. Profilogical is one of 300 companies offering a people search product. People Search products are typically used by individuals and the information is usually gathered from government entities, social networks and telephone directories.
According to the Federal Trade Commission, it "would be virtually impossible for a consumer to determine how a data broker obtained his or her data".
According to the Electronic Privacy Information Center: "No federal statute provides consumers with the right to learn what information data brokers have compiled about them. Likewise, consumers do not have a right to “opt out”, that is, to prevent data brokers from collecting, sharing, or publishing their personal information. Consumers also do not have the right to require data brokers to correct or delete inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable information."
